Job Description

Position Summary The 1st Shift Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and company quality standards. This position performs inspections throughout the manufacturing process, supports production teams in resolving quality concerns, and helps maintain a culture of continuous improvement. The Quality Technician works closely with production, engineering, and customers to ensure quality expectations are consistently achieved. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on fabricated and assembled components. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions. Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment including: Calipers Micrometers Height gauges Thread gauges Pin gauges Tape measures Protractors CMM (if applicable) Inspect welds, paint finish, assemblies, and fabricated components for compliance with customer requirements. Document inspection results accurately and maintain quality records. Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming products. Issue and track nonconformance reports (NCRs). Work with production personnel to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions. Perform root cause investigations and assist with corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Verify material certifications and ensure proper traceability when required. Assist with customer returns, quality investigations, and containment activities. Ensure inspection equipment is properly calibrated and maintained. Promote safe work practices and maintain a clean, organized work area. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience in metal fabrication, welding, machining, or sheet metal manufacturing is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T. Working knowledge of
ISO 9001
quality systems preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems is a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to use precision measuring instruments confidently. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic mathematical skills including fractions, decimals, and geometry. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Physical Requirements Frequently stand and walk for extended periods. Lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to distinguish colors and identify surface defects. Manual dexterity to operate measuring instruments and inspection equipment. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, dust, and temperature fluctuations. Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
