Onsite Job Description Job Description:
Plan, coordinate, and direct all daily tool room functions to ensure continuous molding operations in accordance with established standards.
Maintain all tooling in a ready-to-run condition through maintenance programs and document work in the EAM system.
Perform duties in a safe, clean manner using established safety and 5S standards.
Responsibilities:
Complete all mold repairs, including disassembly/reassembly of molds that are within the plant's capability, as requested by management.
Troubleshoot and repair issues of molds in production (Press Calls). This includes climbing in, on, or around the mold in the press
Work with various departments to resolve customer concerns
Proven mechanical aptitude for problem solving
Understand the injection molding processes and Best Practices in Mold design and building
Working knowledge of tool steels and coatings that include Porcerax for venting and Dyna-Blue/Armoloy for wearability and mold release
Must be willing to train others in troubleshooting techniques, including all tool shop equipment and bench/polishing equipment
Create, enter, and complete work order activities in the Work Order system (INFOR / EAM Documentation)
Communicate job status/details at pass-down meeting between shifts
Correctly sign out spare components from crib to ensure restocking
Ensure 5S standards are maintained within the tooling area
Ensure all Molds are standardized according to Client Tooling Standards
Perform other duties as requested by the Tooling Manager and Molding Department Shift Supervisors
Conform to all safety and LOTO procedures
Requirements:
Must have a Journeyman's certificate in Tool & Die / Mold Making
3-5 years of minimum experience with injection molding/tooling
3-5 years of minimum experience within the automotive industry
Completion of formal apprenticeship program resulting in a Journeyman-level Tool and Die Maker.
Must be able to successfully pass the aptitude test
Must be able to obtain a Client forklift and crane operator license
Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants, which may require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces
Must be competent on all shop equipment and ancillary equipment: Mill, Lathe, Surface Grinder, Welding (Tig and Laser welding), Hot Runner Controller, Hydraulic Core Pump, Overhead Crane usage, safe mold rigging and handling, etc
Must be competent in bench work: polishing / using pencil grinder for spotting and blueing of parting lines / shut offs, opening vents, and grain repair including sandblasting, etc
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
