Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Toolmaker on the 2nd shift in our facility located in. This energetic role is vital to ensuring the precision and quality of tooling used in our production processes. As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining high-quality tools and molds that support our manufacturing operations. Your expertise will directly contribute to our commitment to excellence, efficiency, and innovation. Responsibilities Fabricate, modify, and repair tooling, including molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using manual machining techniques and CNC equipment. Set up and operate CNC machining centers such as CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precise tool components. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication. Conduct precision measurements with tools like micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measurement instruments to verify dimensions and quality standards. Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of machinery including grinders, welders, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and other shop tools. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure tooling meets specifications for plastics injection molding or stamping presses. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, inspections completed, and tools fabricated or repaired. Requirements Proven experience in toolroom operations with a strong background in metal machining, fabrication, and tool & die work. Skilled in CNC programming for milling machines and lathes; experience with CAM programming is highly desirable. Knowledge of GD&T principles for mechanical blueprint interpretation to ensure precise manufacturing tolerances. Hands-on experience with manual machining tools including grinders, mills, lathes, hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and measurement gauges, preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with shop math skills necessary for accurate measurements and calculations. Experience working with stamping presses or fabrication equipment preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on quality control through precision measurement techniques.
