Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Wastewater Operator II independently operates, monitors, inspects, and performs routine maintenance on the Company's wastewater treatment plants, collection system, lift stations, pumping facilities, disposal systems, and related infrastructure... This position is responsible for recognizing and responding to operational issues, alarms, and equipment conditions; performing routine troubleshooting and operational adjustments; maintaining accurate operational records; and supporting the reliable and compliant operation of wastewater facilities. Wastewater Operator II also assists with the training and development of less experienced operators.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Includes all Operator I duties plus:) Independently operate assigned wastewater treatment plants, collection systems, lift stations, pumping facilities, disposal systems, and related equipment in accordance with established operating procedures. Perform routine process control testing and collect wastewater samples to monitor treatment performance, evaluate system conditions, and identify routine operational adjustments. Monitor chemical usage and inventory levels and notify the appropriate personnel when chemicals or treatment supplies need to be replenished. Monitor treatment processes, equipment performance, SCADA/telemetry systems, flow conditions, and other operating parameters to recognize and address routine operational issues. Respond to alarms, sewer system call-outs, service concerns, and other operational events, including after-hours and emergency response; investigate issues and take appropriate corrective action within established procedures. Perform routine equipment inspections, pump changes, operational adjustments, and preventive maintenance activities. Coordinate minor maintenance activities and assist maintenance personnel and contractors with repairs and equipment servicing. Maintain accurate operational, regulatory, and maintenance records. Perform confined space entries and other assigned work in accordance with Company safety procedures and applicable requirements. Assist with training Operator I employees and provide guidance on routine operating procedures, equipment, and safety practices. Identify and recommend routine operational or maintenance improvements to support safe, reliable, and efficient system operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) A valid driver's license with clean driving record in accordance with company and insurance standards Delaware Wastewater Operator Level II license required. Candidates who currently possess a Delaware Wastewater Operator Level I license and have relevant wastewater operations experience may be considered for placement at the Operator II level based on demonstrated knowledge, skills, experience, and ability to meet the applicable Level II licensing requirements. Minimum two years' wastewater operations experience. Ability to operate SCADA systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Basic to intermediate computer skills, including electronic recordkeeping, data entry, email, and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with preventive maintenance and basic mechanical equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Heavy- Exerting 50 to 100lbs of force occasionally and/or more than 50lbs. of force frequently and/or more than 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are more than those for Heavy work. Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and work around vehicles and equipment Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) Ability to work in varied weather and environmental conditions
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Exposure to wastewater, weather, noise, chemicals, insects, and biological hazards. As conditions require, ability to wear respiratory protective equipment includes a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for extended periods.
