Water and Wastewater Treatment Operations Supervisor III Compensation:
$70,000-$80,000

Full-Time Schedule:
Full-Time | On-Call Required Your first 90 days: a roadmap Days 1-30: Learn the sites, safety culture, SOPs, and compliance milestones. Shadow plant rounds at our 3 MGD activated sludge facility and review records, permits, and PM schedules. Days 31-60: Take the lead on sampling plans, lab testing cadence, and documentation accuracy. Mentor Operators I & II on inspections, utility locates, and meter reads/re-reads. Days 61-90: Own daily operations across water distribution, wastewater collection, and treatment. Coordinate contractors for specialized repairs, optimize belt press performance, and refine preventive maintenance workflows. Key responsibilities Supervise and perform O&M for water distribution and wastewater collection/treatment systems. Guide Operators I and II to complete tasks safely, efficiently, and per procedure; provide hands-on assistance as needed. Conduct inspections of wells, facilities, and treatment/system components to verify proper function. Collect samples, complete required laboratory analyses, and maintain accurate, compliant operational records. Execute utility locates; perform meter reads and re-reads. Diagnose and repair issues involving water/sewer lines, pumps, valves, and basic electrical/mechanical equipment within role scope. Engage outside contractors for specialized work and oversee their activities. Monitor wastewater collection system flows; respond to abnormalities and assist with blockage clearing. Operate and maintain treatment plant equipment, including the belt press. Complete scheduled preventive maintenance aligned with SOPs. Uphold a clean, orderly, and safe workplace; consistently use required PPE and follow all safety policies. Support dependable utility operations through teamwork and timely on-call/emergency response. Carry out other assigned duties. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Three (3)+ years of industrial or environmental operations & maintenance experience—preferably in water and/or wastewater—or equivalent education/experience. Active Louisiana State Department of Health Wastewater Collection Class III and/or Wastewater Treatment Class III certification. Valid Louisiana driver's license. Strong understanding of water/wastewater processes, system operations, and regulatory compliance. Experience operating treatment plant equipment, including a belt press. Mechanical repair capability with fundamental electrical troubleshooting. Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and technical procedures. Skilled in preparing routine reports and maintaining precise records. Proficiency with mathematical calculations required under Louisiana operator certification standards. Physical requirements Regular standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and manual work. Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds. Work indoors and outdoors across changing weather conditions. Safely work near moving mechanical equipment, electrical components, and other industrial hazards while using PPE.
