Definition:

Responsible laboratory work requiring knowledge of wastewater laboratory tests needed to meet State/Federal Regulations. Primary work responsibility is collecting and analyzing sampling results, recording and reporting results. Work is performed in accordance with State/Federal laboratory standards by using standard methods for the examination of water and wastewater.

Tasks:

Conduct a variety of laboratory tests to monitor and identify kinds and amounts of solids in the influent and effluent at various stages of treatment including final discharge. Tests will include total suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, most probable numbers, fecal coliforms, chlorine residual, mixed liquid suspended solids, P.H., dissolved oxygen and dissolved solids and all other tests as required. Will be required to do analysis on composted sludge. Operate bar screens, grit chambers, and other related equipment at the headworks of the plant.

Operate light equipment. ? May be required to wear self-contained breathing apparatus. ? May be required to drive city vehicle. Will be required to work weekends.
