ABOUT THE ROLE
The Wastewater Treatment Specialist supports the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the plant's wastewater treatment processes. This role serves as the plant's primary subject matter resource for wastewater treatment while also supporting broader environmental compliance activities across the facility. The position works closely with operations, maintenance, and EHS to monitor system performance, maintain compliance, resolve issues, and support continuous improvement. This position will report directly to Napoleon EHSS Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the daily operation and monitoring of the plant's wastewater treatment systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant performance
Serve as the plant's primary specialist for wastewater treatment processes, testing, reporting, and process support
Monitor wastewater treatment equipment, chemical usage, flow conditions, sampling activity, and system performance
Collect, document, and maintain wastewater treatment logs, operating records, inspection documents, and compliance reports
Perform routine sampling, testing, and reporting in accordance with plant procedures, permit requirements, and regulatory standards
Identify process issues, compliance concerns, or equipment problems and support timely corrective action
Partner with operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to troubleshoot wastewater-related issues and sustain plant performance
Coordinate or support preventive maintenance activities for wastewater treatment equipment and related systems
Assist with environmental inspections, audits, permit requirements, and regulatory follow-up actions
Support other plant environmental programs and activities as assigned, including recordkeeping, inspections, compliance tracking, waste handling coordination, and environmental improvement efforts
Maintain a high standard of safety, environmental compliance, documentation accuracy, and operational discipline
Support continuous improvement efforts that strengthen wastewater treatment performance, reliability, and compliance
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, industrial technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
Experience in wastewater treatment, environmental compliance, utilities, or plant environmental operations required
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment preferred
Working knowledge of wastewater treatment systems, sampling, testing, and environmental compliance requirements
Familiarity with wastewater permits, discharge requirements, inspections, and reporting practices preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of wastewater treatment operations and environmental compliance practices
Ability to collect, interpret, and maintain accurate operating data, logs, and compliance records
Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and follow-through skills
Ability to work effectively across operations, maintenance, and EHS teams
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues and support timely resolution
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic reporting systems Physical Demands / Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing plant environment
Position requires routine presence in production and utility areas, including wastewater treatment systems
May require standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting materials, and use of personal protective equipment
