The City of Orrville is seeking a qualified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II. Individuals in this classification use skilled laboratory work in collecting samples, analyzing chemical and biological components using sophisticated testing equipment, recording and reporting findings as well as the operation of wastewater treatment plant equipment and facilities on an assigned shift. Serves as the lead person in the lab in addition to being responsible for the operation and maintenance of the plant and for performing other tasks related to the treatment of wastewater. Work also includes developing and implementing program guidelines in the lab, and training other employees in lab procedures. Work is performed within prescribed procedures and regulations, but the employees must be able to exercise independent judgment in correcting certain problem situations. Working a back shift may be required. Advancement opportunities available. The pay range is $31.86 to $39.85, plus benefits.

Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Ohio Driver's License, considerable experience in wastewater treatment operations, and a Class II Wastewater Operator's Certificate issued by the State of Ohio EPA. A copy of your certificate must accompany your application.

Military Credit:

Applicants who have been honorably discharged from active duty in the armed forces of the United States are eligible to receive an additional credit of 10% if they receive a qualifying (passing) score of 70%. A copy of your DD-214 must be submitted along with the application. No credit will be given if the appropriate documentation is received after the deadline.

Exam Information:

Exam will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 6:00 pm at Schmid Hall, 501 Hall Street, Orrville, Ohio. Doors to the building will open at 5:50 pm and the exam will start promptly at 6:00 pm. Allow 1 hour for the exam. To be admitted to the exam, you must show a valid Ohio Driver's License upon arrival. Calculators will be provided, if necessary. Please save the date, time and location of the exam. The exam is open to all citizens and those who have legally declared their intentions of becoming citizens.
