Job Description

Plant Operations • Lab Testing • Equipment Maintenance Starting at $22.50 - $23.50 per hour DOE We're looking for a dependable Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to operate and maintain treatment plants, conduct basic lab tests, perform equipment inspections, and keep accurate records in compliance with discharge permits and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on role with a variety of daily tasks — from sampling and data recording to preventive maintenance and groundskeeping — in both indoor and outdoor environments. What you'll do Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plants including treatment systems and related facilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, control panels, compressors, chlorinating equipment, and analyzers Conduct daily visual inspections of lagoons and treatment processes Maintain samplers, collect samples, and record all data as required by the City's discharge permit Perform basic laboratory tests to ensure proper water and wastewater treatment Maintain accurate logs and records per discharge permit, QAQC program, and DEQ/EPA regulations Perform routine custodial and maintenance duties — buildings, grounds, lagoon dikes, buffer zones, farm roads, and fences Operate City vehicles and heavy equipment or provide manual labor as needed Perform on-call services after normal work hours as needed What you need High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license Basic computer skills — word processing, spreadsheets, and ability to learn a CMMS Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs with assistance for physically demanding tasks Comfort working in varied environments — laboratory, confined spaces, outdoor weather, and around fumes, chemicals, and raw sewage Availability for on-call duties after normal work hours Strong commitment to safety protocols and recordkeeping accuracy Work environment Work is performed in laboratory, outdoor, and confined space environments with possible exposure to fumes, oils, chemicals, and raw sewage. On-call services required after normal work hours. #
KCJ Pay:
$22.50 - $23.50 per hour
