The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for supervising the execution of sanitation activities at the Nacogdoches, TX facilities to ensure production equipment, food contact surfaces, and the manufacturing environments are cleaned and sanitized in accordance with company requirements, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This position provides direct leadership to the Sanitation Lead(s) and Sanitation Technicians by coordinating daily sanitation activities, verifying the effectiveness of cleaning and sanitation, ensuring pre-operational readiness, maintaining sanitation records, and driving continuous improvement in sanitation performance. This role works closely with all site functions to support safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations.
REPORTS TO
Site Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager
ESSENTIAL TASKS
Supervise and conduct sanitation operations across all assigned production, packaging, warehouse, and support areas per their defined frequency.
Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance feedback to sanitation lead(s) and technicians.
Schedule and assign sanitation personnel to ensure timely completion of all required housekeeping and sanitation activities.
Assist with interviewing potential sanitation employees.
Ensure all cleaning and sanitation activities are completed according to approved procedures.
Conduct inspections of equipment and plant areas to ensure cleaning and sanitation effectiveness.
Collect environmental and equipment swabs for pathogens and indicator organisms.
Support investigations involving sanitation failures, environmental positives, foreign material concerns, etc.
Coordinate periodic deep cleaning and plant shutdown sanitation activities.
Ensure color-coded tools and hygienic zoning practices are followed by all staff.
Verify sanitation documentation is completed accurately and maintained according to policy.
Monitor utensil, supplies, and sanitation chemical inventories and communicate replenishment needs.
Verify the proper storage, labeling, handling, and use of sanitation chemicals.
Escalate food safety, employee safety, equipment, or regulatory concerns immediately.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required, technical or vocational training preferred. 3+ years of experience in food, feed, or pet food manufacturing; prior sanitation leadership experience preferred. 1+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Working knowledge of sanitation chemicals, cleaning methods, and hygienic design principles. Understanding of food safety regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices. Strong attention to detail, documentation, and organizational skills highly preferred. Ability to work well as a member of a cross-functional team.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in a schedule-driven shift environment, some weekends may be required. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, climb stairs, travel on manlifts, climb ladders and walk plant floors that could exceed one mile of travel per day. The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals; and bending, reaching, and crouching. Must have command of all five senses, sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens to close forms. May be frequently exposed to dust, strong odors, and varying outdoor temperatures. Must have the ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds, as required. Must be able to understand and follow work instructions in English.
