Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Utility Operator to join our City Water Department. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and economical operation, maintenance, and control of the city's water and wastewater systems, including water production, water wastewater treatment, storage, distribution and collection system facilities.. Your proactive approach and mechanical aptitude will contribute to a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop technical skills while supporting a dynamic manufacturing process. Responsibilities Monitor, operate, and maintain wastewater treatment equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, motor controllers, blowers, aerators, filters, digesters, chemical feed equipment, automatic sampling equipment, disinfection equipment, and sludge handling equipment. Monitor and interpret gauges, digital and computer displays, and various recording devices to determine adjustments needed to process. Monitor and adjust wastewater treatment processes such as screening, primary/secondary solids removal, activated sludge, anaerobic digestion, disinfection, and sludge disposal to ensure the wastewater treatment plant is operating in accordance with all applicable state and federal permit requirements. Operate trucks and construction equipment such as backhoes and trenching machines, horizontal boring machine, combinations vacuum/water jet. Available to work weekends and holidays and respond to emergency call outs.
Qualifications Knowledge of:
Basic construction and maintenance methods, procedures, tools, equipment, supplies and materials of water and sewer utility systems. Safe work practices under hazardous conditions. Operation of a variety of construction equipment.

Ability to:
Perform a variety of construction, repair, and maintenance tasks. Work under routine and emergency conditions, sometimes in severe weather. Operate light equipment and learn to operate heavier construction equipment .Work efficiently and safely with others .Understand and follow verbal and written instructions and directions. Perform a wide range of physically strenuous tasks as required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License, will have to obtain Class C Water License in given time frame
Pay:
$18.00 - $21.00 per hour
