Position Summary:
We are looking for a Welder/Fitter with experience performing TIG welds to join our team in Bay Minette, AL. This position will primarily be responsible for welding tip assemblies, burners, and various other assemblies comprised of similar and dissimilar metals, i.e. copper, steel and stainless steel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform welds for Tip Assemblies, Burner Lances, Furnace Panel Pipe Coils and dissimilar metal barrel assemblies. Select proper components to be welded (Tips and appropriate sleeves) based on engineering drawings, preheat items to proper temperature and perform welds to drawing specifications Operate cranes, fork trucks and other equipment i.e. grinders, weld/burning equipment etc. and be responsible for the general maintenance of welding equipment Ensure all welds meet quality standards, codes, and specifications Inspect completed welds using measuring tools and visual inspection techniques Troubleshoot welding issues and recommend process improvements Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a welding certification program or technical training preferred. 2+ years of welding/fitting experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Proficiency in MIG, TIG, GMAW, GTAW and/or Stick welding processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols. Skilled in layout, fitting, and fabrication of metal components. Familiar with cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools. Capable of inspecting finished welds for quality and compliance with specifications. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination. Comfortable working in hot, noisy, and industrial environments.
