Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced 1st Class Pipe Welder to join our ship repair team. The successful candidate will be responsible for welding a variety of piping systems onboard commercial, government, and military vessels. This position requires a highly skilled welder capable of producing quality welds that meet shipyard, ABS, NAVSEA, Coast Guard, and customer specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform welding repairs, modifications, and new installations on marine piping systems. Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, copper nickel (CuNi), and other specialty alloys using approved welding procedures. Read and interpret piping drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications. Fit, align, and weld pipe spools, valves, flanges, and fittings. Conduct pipe repairs in confined spaces, tanks, voids, machinery spaces, and onboard vessels. Maintain compliance with all shipyard safety policies and procedures. Inspect completed welds to ensure quality standards and customer requirements are met. Operate welding equipment, grinding tools, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently. Work closely with supervisors, pipefitters, and quality control personnel to complete projects on schedule. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of marine, industrial, or shipyard pipe welding experience .
Demonstrated proficiency in:
SMAW (Stick) GTAW (TIG) GMAW (MIG), where applicable Ability to pass a shipyard or customer-required welding test. Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings and piping schematics. Knowledge of NAVSEA, ABS, military, and commercial marine welding standards preferred. Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel piping systems. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel as required. Must possess reliable transportation and be able to access military installations if required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces. Capable of standing, kneeling, crouching, and working in physically demanding conditions for extended periods. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Preferred Qualifications Current welding certifications (AWS, NAVSEA, ABS, or equivalent). Shipyard experience on government, military, or commercial vessels. OSHA 10 certification.
