As a Fabrication/Welder, you will be responsible for joining metal using a variety of techniques, often to form new structures. Duties may include cutting and welding materials according to technical plans created by other construction professionals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to provide accurate written repair estimates including labor, and material. Trains coworkers in equipment repair and/or metal fabrication. Enters repair order comments, maintenance concerns, and other work-related information into the database. Due to several shifts completing one project, specific job detail information must be passed along at shift change. Cutting materials into the required shapes, checking dimensions and thicknesses. Welding or joining metal and other materials into a wide range of structures. Following engineering plans, drawings, and instructions. Using computer programs to design structures. Operating tools and machinery and welding equipment. Inspecting and testing welds with precision measuring instruments. Dismantling metal structures. Cleaning tools, equipment, and work areas. Wearing safety clothing and using protective equipment. Working on a construction site or in a workshop. Any other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Ability to work outdoors. Ability to work on and build equipment. Ability to continuously work with product and equipment at ground level. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Ability to move in food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms). Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 110° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
