POSITION SUMMARY
Redwood Machine Works is seeking an experienced and dependable Fabricator to join our shop-floor fabrication team and actively contributing to production. This position is responsible for fabricating finished weldments and assemblies safely, correctly, on budget, and on schedule . The ideal candidate is a skilled fabricator and welder who can read and interpret drawings, perform precise layout and fit-up, operate a variety of shop equipment, and troubleshoot equipment issues. . The Fabricator is expected to produce high quality work reliably and on time using they're skill and experience.
GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Fabricator generally works on the Shop Floor and performs tasks assigned by the Shop Supervisor. The Fabricator is responsible for manufacturing finished components while achieving safety, quality, and delivery objectives. They achieve this by following written work instructions, operating equipment and machines, fitting and tacking of assemblies, production welding using multiple processes, and ensures effective communication with team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and productive shop environment. Interpret and follow fabrication drawings, specifications, and written work instructions with minimal supervision. Perform hands-on fabrication, fitting, tacking, and welding using GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW-G processes. Set up and adjust welding equipment to consistently produce high-quality welds. Perform accurate layout and fit-up of complex assemblies to tolerances as tight as 1/64" . Operate equipment to include welders, forklifts, grinders, bevellers, magnetic drills, saws, hand tools, ladders, and precision measuring equipment. Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform basic repairs on shop machinery and supporting equipment. Communicate project status, production concerns, scheduling issues, equipment needs, and other issues to the Shop Supervisor. Provide feedback and participate in continuous improvement efforts related to manufacturing processes, quality, and efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the organization.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 5
years' proven experience in metal fabrication and welding . Strong ability to read and interpret shop drawings and work instructions. Ability to provide personal hand tools necessary to perform daily job duties. Strong layout, measurement, and fit-up skills. Demonstrated proficiency with GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW welding processes. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively coordinating with others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and handle up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders and safely work around shop equipment and materials. Ability to safely perform the physical demands of a fabrication shop environment.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT U.S.
citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States. 5 years' direct fabrication experiance
