Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team in Portland, Oregon. This position is essential for supporting our ongoing projects that demand expertise in aluminum welding and structural assembly. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to determine welding specifications and fabrication requirements. Perform aluminum welding using various techniques including Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW or MIG), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS) standards. Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to ensure precise dimensions during fabrication and assembly processes. Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment safely and efficiently for cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components. Fabricate structural elements, ductwork, piping, sheet metal parts, and other metal materials with attention to detail and quality control. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to guide welding sequences, pipe threading, assembly, and fabrication tasks. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, inspecting equipment regularly, and following OSHA guidelines. Requirements Proven experience working on construction sites or in a fabrication shop environment with a focus on metal and sheet metal fabrication. Demonstrated proficiency in aluminum welding techniques including MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW, and gas metal arc welding. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, shop math, and basic math skills necessary for precise measurements. Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision tools. Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, pipe threading equipment, and machining tools safely. Mechanical knowledge of structural steel assembly, ductwork fabrication, pipe fitting including threading practices. Experience interpreting technical drawings related to manufacturing or construction projects involving metal materials. Excellent safety protocol adherence combined with a proactive approach to maintaining a safe work environment. Prior experience working with aluminum materials in a welding or fabrication setting is highly preferred. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
