You'll work alongside experienced professionals in a busy fabrication shop, gaining valuable hands-on experience with MIG welding, blueprint reading, fabrication, grinding, and production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform MIG welding on production and fabricated metal components. Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to ensure accurate welds and part specifications. Use weld symbols to complete projects according to engineering requirements. Grind and finish welds to meet quality standards. Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools. Assist with fabrication and production support tasks throughout the shop. Help prepare work areas, materials, and bays to keep production running efficiently. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Work independently after training while collaborating with experienced welders and shop personnel. Follow all safety procedures and properly use PPE and welding equipment.
Required Qualifications:
MIG welding experience obtained through a technical school, high school welding program, trade school, or previous employment. Ability to read basic blueprints and fabrication drawings. Understanding of weld symbols and measuring tools. Experience using grinders and basic metalworking tools. Welding certificate or completion of a welding training program. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Reliable attendance and willingness to learn. Shift:
Monday-Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Work Environment You'll work in a fast-paced fabrication and welding shop alongside a team of experienced welders. The environment is hands-on, collaborative, and focused on quality craftsmanship. New welders receive structured training and support before transitioning into more independent work. The shop can experience changing temperatures throughout the year, particularly during colder months, so employees should be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment. Safety is a top priority, and all welders are expected to follow established procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bettendorf, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
