Job Description

Welder/Fabricator Position Location:
Hastings, MN Shift:
1st Shift (Typically 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) Rother Machine is a custom machine builder that provides design, engineering, fabrication, and assembly of custom equipment to Minneapolis, St. Paul, and surrounding areas. Job Overview As a Welder/Fabricator, you will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding components for custom machinery and equipment. You will interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to accurately produce welded assemblies that meet quality standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to assure timely completion of high-quality products.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on a variety of metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Fabricate and fit parts according to blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Use shop equipment including saws, grinders, drills, shears, mills, and other fabrication tools.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Inspect welds and fabricated assemblies for accuracy, strength, and appearance.
  • Use precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, squares, etc.) to verify tolerances.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning of shop equipment.
  • Follow safety policy and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time.
  • Other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years welding/fabrication experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) and proper techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and fabrication drawings.
  • Familiarity with fabrication equipment (brake, shear, saw, grinder, drill press, etc.).
  • Knowledge of different metals and their welding/fabrication characteristics.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Forklift and overhead crane operation a plus.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and climb ladders as required.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
