Fabrication Welder (MIG)
Pay:
Pay DOE | Full-Time | Gulfport, MSPOSITION SUMMARY

The Fabrication Welder performs MIG welding and related fabrication work according to blueprints, drawings, and production specifications. The position requires solid welding fundamentals, accurate measurement, quality inspection, and the ability to troubleshoot common welding problems.
ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIESRead blueprints, shop instructions, and welding specifications to determine required work.

Select the correct fixtures, tooling, materials, and equipment for each job.

Set up welding equipment and make necessary adjustments before and during production.

MIG weld fabricated parts according to print and quality requirements.

Perform additional fabrication processes such as torch cutting, plasma cutting, gouging, or other welding techniques when qualified and required.

Inspect the first completed part and verify dimensions and weld quality before continuing production.

Use tape measures, steel rules, combination squares, calipers, and weld gauges as applicable.

Troubleshoot issues such as wire speed, undercut, pinholes, rollover, weld-tip selection, and equipment settings.

Inspect and document completed parts and report rejects or rework requirements.

Palletize, tag, count, and stage completed parts for the next production process.

Perform routine welder and equipment checks and promptly report maintenance concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least one year of MIG welding experience, completion of a welding trade program, or comparable demonstrated welding skill preferred.

Ability to read blueprints and weld from prints and specifications.

Working knowledge of MIG welding equipment, settings, and common welding defects.

Ability to accurately use measuring and inspection tools.

Ability to troubleshoot welding quality and equipment-setting issues.

Experience with plasma cutting, torch cutting, gouging, or other fabrication processes is a plus.

Ability to work safely around welding equipment, fabricated materials, cranes, and rigging.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
& EXPECTATIONSWork is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment and may involve noise, moving equipment, metal components, oils, dust, and changing temperatures.

Must consistently follow PPE requirements, safe lifting practices, equipment procedures, and all workplace safety rules.

Must be able to stand and move for extended periods and perform the lifting, reaching, bending, and material-handling duties required for the position.

Must maintain dependable attendance, quality workmanship, productivity, and a team-oriented approach.
