As a certified Morgan and East upfitter and a multi-line trailer dealer, we fabricate, modify, and install truck bodies, semi-trailer components, and structural assemblies every day. In this role you'll run MIG, TIG, and stick on steel, aluminum, and stainless, work from blueprints and fabrication drawings, and build components that meet manufacturer specs, DOT requirements, and our customers' expectations. Job Duties Fabricate, modify, and install truck bodies, semi-trailer components, and structural assemblies efficiently, safely, and accurately Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, and stick processes on steel, aluminum, and stainless materials Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate fit-up and assembly Cut, grind, fit, and finish materials using plasma cutters, torches, saws, grinders, and other shop tools Perform structural repairs and reinforcements on truck frames, bodies, and trailer components as needed Assist in the installation of fabricated components onto truck bodies and semi-trailers Ensure all fabricated components meet manufacturer specifications, engineering requirements, and company quality standards Ensure welds meet strength, appearance, and safety requirements, including DOT and customer standards Communicate with the supervisor on job status, material needs, and fabrication challenges Guide and assist apprentices or helpers, explaining fabrication methods and procedures Accurately document work performed in internal business systems and approved partner platforms Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations; attend required safety meetings and training Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards Continuously improve welding and fabrication skills and stay current with industry best practices Work under production deadlines while maintaining quality, accuracy, and a positive attitude
Experience Requirements Required:
Proficient in MIG welding Working knowledge of fabrication tools, welding equipment, and shop machinery Basic understanding of medium and heavy-duty truck bodies and semi-trailer construction Ability to work independently and follow fabrication drawings and verbal instructions Quality-driven with strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, safety, and precision Team-oriented, flexible, and customer-focused Own a sufficient set of personal tools required for welding and fabrication Able to pass a criminal background check, physical examination, drug and alcohol screening
Preferred:
TIG and aluminum welding experience 1+ year of welding and fabrication experience in a truck body, trailer, or heavy equipment environment, or Technical school or trade certification in welding or fabrication, or Vo-Tech graduate in a related field Why Capitol City Trailers?
