1st and 2nd Shift MIG Welder! - 28/hr! - Clean and Climate Controlled! Job Description This role focuses on high-quality welding and fabrication work in a modern, production-oriented environment. You apply your welding expertise to perform 1G flat groove D11 welds, interpret blueprints using GD&T principles, and complete weld tests to validate your skills. You ensure that all welds meet strict aesthetic and quality standards, follow established processes for inspection and non-conforming product, and contribute to maintaining high work center efficiency and low scrap rates. Responsibilities Perform welding and fabrication tasks with a minimum of 3 years of direct, hands-on experience. Execute 1G flat groove D11 welds as a primary welding operation while meeting customer aesthetic standards. Work from blueprints and apply GD&T principles to understand dimensions, tolerances, and weld requirements. Successfully complete a weld test as part of the qualification and ongoing skills verification process. Identify and correctly apply different types of joints and welds based on job and customer specifications. Set up, operate, and maintain welding machines, including changing wire and monitoring machine performance. Perform tank leak tests accurately to verify weld integrity and ensure product performance. Monitor and maintain welding consumables and supply stock to support uninterrupted production. Apply cross-check concepts and inspect products according to the Inspection Control Plan. Accurately tag materials and products in accordance with WI-0002 Product Identification requirements. Follow the non-conforming product process in line with SOP-003 and ensure proper documentation and handling. Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and standards while maintaining a safe work area. Maintain work center efficiency of 95% or higher through effective work planning and execution. Produce work with a high degree of quality and minimize scrap to meet production and cost targets. Use basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, in daily tasks such as measurements and calculations. Essential Skills At least 3 years of direct welding and fabrication experience. Proficiency in performing 1G flat groove D11 welds. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Capability to successfully complete a weld test. Knowledge of different types of joints and welds and when to apply them. Ability to set up and maintain welding machines, including changing wire and monitoring performance. Experience performing tank leak tests to verify weld integrity. Skill in monitoring and maintaining welding consumable and supply stock. Understanding of cross-check concepts and product inspection according to an Inspection Control Plan. Ability to accurately tag material and product in line with WI-0002 Product Identification. Understanding of non-conforming product processes according to SOP-003. Commitment to following all safety policies and standards. Ability to maintain work center efficiency of 95% or greater. Ability to maintain high quality standards with minimal scrap. Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Experience with MIG welding. Ability to work with welding and blueprint-related tasks in a production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with TIG welding is a plus. Experience with Stick welding is a plus. Comfort working with GD&T on complex blueprints. Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vandalia, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
