DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role centers on welding, cutting, and fabrication work that keeps county equipment in safe operating condition. You will work with many types of metals and tools to complete repairs and build needed parts. As a Welder, you will perform the following duties:

Welding Work:

Perform welding, brazing, soldering, and cutting on ferrous and non-ferrous metals

Equipment Repair:

Repair department machinery including plow frames, blades, spreaders, and related components

Part Fabrication:

Create replacement or custom parts to support equipment modification and repair needs

Tool Operation:

Operate power tools, air tools, and motorized equipment safely during welding and fabrication tasks

Mechanical Tasks:

Complete minor mechanical work such as mounting and removing plow frames and chemical tanks

Safety Maintenance:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

There may be mandatory or unscheduled overtime associated with operational and seasonal needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or

Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or

Completion of an approved welder apprentice program; or

A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
