Job Description

Objective:
To build and install high-quality metal components in a fast paced, custom construction environment. To ensure success as a Metal Fabricator, you should have advanced knowledge of industrial metalwork, a good eye for detail, basic geometry and sufficient mathematical skills. We ask that any worker of this trade will have an optimistic and positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to receive feedback both positive and negative while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Metal Fabricator Responsibilities:
Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints Constructing templates or jigs if necessary Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines Setting up various metalwork machinery Double-checking design specifications before commencing with cutting work Fabricating and constructing metal components Grinding, finishing, or painting of completed products Performing quality checks on completed products Loading and unloading of materials and completed products Installation of completed products Conforming with state and company safety regulations Tracking job hours through company time clock software Monitor stock to ensure inventory is replenished and report to direct supervisor Maintain a clean and safe environment through a continued program of daily sweeping and general cleaning, organizing and stocking of materials Additional duties and assignments outside of fabrication as directed by your supervisor. (Including, but not limited to: Digging, minor concrete work, basic electrical and mechanical, removal of materials and garbage, regrading, basic rough carpentry, delivery and drop offs using company vehicles, basic construction methods and activities.) Maintain shop tools and equipment, participate in repairs as needed and directed Competency in forklift operation, comfortable working in conjunction with heavy machinery
Metal Fabricator Requirements:
Welding experience (preferred) Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints Positive attitude and ability to follow direction from supervisors Competency in forklift operation (preferred) Ability to safely operate company vehicles and trailers to pick up and deliver metal products and to travel to and from job sites Workers must develop and practice safe working habits Ability to reliably work a 4 day, 40 hour workweek (10 hrs / day), and overtime as directed by supervisor Physical/Mental Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: Stand, walk & sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel; talk and hear. reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, squat, kneel, twist and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Use chemicals and appropriate PPE for cleaning, paint prep, painting, and patina work Problem solve and reason through problems within a construction environment, while maintaining a professional disposition Communicate effectively and respectfully with coworkers, supervisors, and clients alike Operate trucks, forklifts, man-lifts and other heavy machinery. Work in the field and on active construction sites with other trades present. In addition to the responsibilities and requirements outlined above, employees may occasionally be asked to: work more than a standard 10 hr work day work more than a standard 40 hr work week (occasionally weekend days) Travel and/or stay overnight for a job (board accommodations, and per diem will be paid)
