Job Title:
Welder/Fitter Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as deemed necessary from time to time. Weld components in flat, vertical and overhead positions. Complete layouts, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies using straightedges, squares, level and rulers. Complete procedures such as clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat, bend, grind or bolt components parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. Overhead crane operation, chain rigging, forklift operation skills. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools. Ability to read a tape measure. Ability to read and interpret documents such as layouts, blueprints, sketches, and maintenance instructions. Ability to operate various equipment to include welding equipment, forklift, hoists, riggings, and various hand and power tools. Requires a broad knowledge of mechanics, metal properties, welding techniques and maintenance procedures and practices. Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted. Ability to fill spot overtime hours with short notice. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and circumference. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to read a print. Ability to use/read a tape measure. Education and/or Experience Requires 2 to 5 years of experience. Physical Demands Stand, climb, bend, and use hands to operate objects or controls frequently. Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently. Walk, sit, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, and use foot/feet to operate machine frequently. Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Summary In the role of Welder/Fitter, you will utilize your core skills in blueprint reading and fabrication to assemble and install various components. With premium skills in MIG welding and fitting, as well as experience in heavy equipment and using cranes, you will contribute to the efficient and quality driven completion of jobs. Your relevant skills in rigging, mechanical knowledge, and manufacturing will further enhance your ability to be successful. Proficiency in reading prints will be beneficial in this hands-on role.
