Tourism Manager (Long term Contract)

Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Tourism Manager to lead destination marketing and visitor engagement for a fast-growing Southwest Valley community, serving as a key leader within the Office of Economic Development. You'll build and manage the city's destination marketing program — driving strategies to attract visitors, meetings, conventions, and major events — while working closely with a major-league spring training ballpark, Parks & Recreation, and regional tourism partners. What You'll Do Lead the annual DMO business plan, tourism marketing plan, and long-range strategy Drive business development to attract events, meetings, and leisure travelers Serve as primary liaison to the tourism/hospitality industry; host FAM tours and site visits Represent the city at industry conferences (includes required travel — IMEX America, U.S. Travel IPW, and similar events) Develop marketing campaigns and content across web, digital, video, and social Oversee Visitor Center operations and visitor-facing materials Manage tourism funding (including Prop 302), procurement, and vendor contracts Prepare performance reports and presentations for City Council and leadership What You'll Need Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field (equivalent experience substitutes year-for-year) 7+ years progressively responsible experience in tourism, destination marketing, hospitality, or economic development Strong marketing content and digital/social media experience Comfort presenting to executive leadership and elected officials Ability to travel for required industry conferences CDME or similar credential a plus, not required Contract Details W2, hybrid (mainly in-office) Estimated start August/September 2026
Pay:
$46.00 - $65.00 per hour Application Question(s): Do you have at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience specifically in tourism, destination marketing, hospitality, or economic development? This is a long W2 contract with no guarantee of permanent conversion, benefits (insurance, vacation, holiday pay) and it requires travel to industry conferences (e.g., IMEX America, U.S. Travel IPW) as part of the role.
