A large chemical plant in Ascension Parish is seeking a Community Relations Coordinator who is willing to travel on the east and west bank of Ascension Parish. The candidate will implement a portfolio of projects and activities in the community that enhance the corporate brand and advance business objectives. Also, the successful candidate will provide public affairs services support throughout Ascension Parish with a focus on community relations, community engagement, and giving programs. Job Responsibilities Implement a tactical plan for building and maintaining local programs and engagement activities in support of the company's mission and promote a positive impact on the community. While serving as a point of contact sharing the company's vision, the candidate will build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with members of the community, local elected officials, community groups, charitable organizations, and other local key stakeholders. Implement, lead, and participate in community outreach programs and coordinate special events as needed. Draft and distribute communications that promote the company as well as individuals and groups within it. Build and promote cross-functional relationships within the company. Will work closely with the Community Relations Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing public meetings and/or other public opportunities. Work collaboratively with third-party PR agencies to support the broader business communications strategies and address local concerns as/if they arise. Identify traditional media and social media opportunities to enhance the company's local profile and promote engagement activities. This position may be up to 3 months and potentially longer. #insj
Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- 2-5 years of relevant public relations, community relations, or executive admin experience required
- Bachelor's Degree minimum (in public relations, communications, public/government affairs, preferred) Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license and up-to-date car insurance
- Superior written and spoken communication skills
- Understanding of and experience with news media
- Ability to write compelling content for various channels
- Demonstrate success in developing and delivering public relations strategies and plans in a complex organization
- Ability to write and execute strategic communication plans
- Ability to plan and manage complex public-facing events
- Experience in manufacturing, or industrial sectors is helpful but not required
- Must be able to manage quickly changing priorities and/or external events that impact business goals
- Strong interpersonal skills team player
- Business/industry knowledge a plus TWIC required
