Job Description

Immediate opening for a unique position as a full-time South End Neighborhood Partnership Coordinator for Bester Community of Hope. Bester Community of Hope (BCOH) is an initiative of San Mar Family & Community Services, supporting the growing neighborhood work through the ENOUGH initiative from the Governor's Office for Children. The Neighborhood Partnership Coordinator (NPC) will cultivate relationships between residents, businesses, local government, and stakeholders to promote collaboration and community well-being in the South End of Hagerstown. The NPC is a leadership role within BCOH, and will manage implementation of neighborhood efforts and supervise the Lead Neighborhood Ambassador as support the shared work of the Neighborhood Ambassadors. Full time position, Monday- Friday 9 am - 5 pm, some evening and weekend commitments based on community needs and activities, competitive pay based on experience, South End of Hagerstown residents with relevant skills encouraged to apply Top priority: Grow relationships at all levels within the identified community & cultivate ownership of community well-being and BCOH initiative. a. Clearly identify and recognize strengths to promote a sense of pride and assess community needs through deep listening. b. Intentional resident relationship development as identified in the short- and long-term plan and aggressively develop alliances with key stakeholders c. Build outreach plan with daily engagement with local residents, with key performance indicators reflecting significant increases in numbers of residents on active roster of local leaders and measure their participation in community efforts. d. Convert local listening and relationship efforts to significant growth with significant tangible and measurable activities reflecting community engagement as a key performance indicator. e. Must have a passion for outreach and engagement, as well as special events and activity planning
Primary Job Functions:
1. Actively collaborate with the Director of BCOH in the development, implementation, and sustainability of the neighborhood domain. a. Function as a member of the BCOH leadership team and ensure necessary information is communicated within program. 2. Work closely with the Director to meet all the goals and outcome measures set for the Bester Community of Hope Initiative and contribute to agency reporting. 3. Demonstrate leadership in facilitating and executing special events to improve quality of life in the neighborhood including but not limited to the South Side Community Block Party, Babypalooza, and a resident led signature event. 4. Maintain accurate, organized, and professional documentation and complete tasks within identified timeframes to include weekly, monthly, and annual reporting. 5. Organize and facilitate quarterly Community Advisory Board meetings so community members can provide input, guidance, and feedback regarding the community initiative thus providing a community-driven process. 6. Attend meetings and support Neighborhood 1st groups within the catchment area. 7. Facilitate community development opportunities through mobilizing community partners and/or bringing in outside resources designed to meet the specific needs of the community within the context of the community. Ensure opportunities are non-stigmatizing, bridging social connections and fun. a. Collaborate with community providers to increase educational and skill development to residents b. Provide on-going training opportunities (leadership skills, effective communication skills, advocacy skills, volunteer orientation, etc.) to community leadership groups (N1st groups, Neighborhood Ambassadors, etc.) 8. Collect and analyze community data to inform practices and assess impact of community efforts 9. Manage volunteers through maintenance of volunteer documentation, ensuring compliance with agency policy & procedures, and providing trainings on necessary skills needed for specific projects. 10. Oversee the monthly Cash & Dreams activities, supporting South Hagerstown High School students pathway to career success with the Chamber of Commerce. Knowledge - Skills -
Abilities:
1. Knowledge of family dynamics, systems theory, and community intervention. 2. Demonstrate effective communication skills through the ability to inspire, empower, and build collaboration. 3. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication. 4. Demonstrate the ability to initiate and nurture genuine relationships across a diverse population. 5.
Maintain a working knowledge of:
a. the resources available in the community to all residents, b. community systems, conditions, and culture, c. the impact of poverty and trauma on community conditions, d. community members including organizations, residents, businesses, and other stakeholders; and, e. best practices in promoting and mobilizing community change.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Commit to the philosophy, mission, and values of the organization. 2. Complete a physical exam and TB test (or chest x-ray) at least annually from a licensed physician and return the appropriate form signed by the physician attesting that your health is such that you can complete the requirements of this job without presenting a health risk to yourself or others. 3. Sign a confidentiality statement and computer and information usage agreement (HIPAA). 4. Have a successful clearance through a criminal background check and child protective services. 5. Agree to abide by the organization's standards of behavior as explained in the employee handbook. 6. Have and maintain a valid driver's license, cleared by our insurance carrier. 7. Must hold a bachelor's degree or have significant experience that qualifies. 8. Have the cognitive ability to process sequential information and read at least at a college proficiency level. 9. Have the visual acuity to safely navigate agency facilities and read computer video displays properly. 10. Demonstrate a hearing ability at a level to allow for effective verbal communication via telephone or direct verbal communication. 11. Have the physical capability to complete eight hours (plus) of work per day, forty hours (plus) per week which may include extended periods of intermittent sitting, standing, and or movement throughout the day. 12. Have the manual dexterity to use computer entry devices. 13. Be free of any physical/emotional impairments or limitations sufficient to impede the successful accomplishment of any/all assigned tasks and/or act to increase the potential for injury to them or others. Due to the community driven nature of the work, preference will be given to a resident meeting qualifications living in the South End of Hagerstown, MD.
