Full-Time Posting Detail Information Position Summary The Clinical and Translational Science Institute ( CTSI ) and its Clinical and Translational Science Award ( CTSA ) and companion Institutional Career Development Award represent a large NIH infrastructure grant to support clinical and translational research at the University at Buffalo (UB) and the Buffalo Translational Consortium ( BTC ) partner institutions under the leadership of the Director of the CTSI .
The Community Engagement Facilitator:
Play an active role in the integration of research, training and engagement initiatives within the CTSI Community Engagement core by working with the core leadership, UB community and stakeholders. Develop and implement program deliverables and be responsible for ongoing project management. This position will consult with researchers and community partners with an emphasis on the design and implementation of community-based recruitment strategies (including the WNY Research Connections), grant development and project development. Develop innovative community education and outreach initiatives, culturally-informed approaches to engage community members to participate in and guide research, and creative community based recruitment and retention strategies. Provide support for CTSI Community Advisory Board. Meet regularly with Core Director and work collaboratively with other CTSI cores, institutional partners, and community partners. Assist with implementation of Community Engagement Studios Assist with the implementation of Science Cafés to disseminate research into a community setting and facilitate community conversation around the topic. Lead the implementation of the Community Engagement Seed Grant Program that provides funding for the development of community academic partnerships. Coordinate and implement the evaluation of all programmatic activities for the CTSI Community Engagement core including but not limited to CTSl-specific online training modules, seminars, workshops as well as outreach training modules and new courses when appropriate. Monitor and assess Community Engagement programs and activities, contribute to annual and periodic progress reports. Lead efforts related to the WNY Research Connections, a tool to match potential participants with research studies. Assist with dissemination of project findings to relevant communities. The Community Engagement Facilitator works closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other senior leaders in the CTSI . This position facilitates projects with the Community Engagement Coordinator, Clinical Recruitment Coordinator, Special Populations Coordinator and other CTSI staff. The Community Engagement Facilitator also interacts with UB faculty members, most specifically within the health sciences schools. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Experience with developing community education and outreach programs 2 years of experience in support of multiple programs/projects Strong oral and written communication skills Highly organized and able to multi-task Excellent oral and written communication skills and willingness to work with large and diverse teams within the CTSI , the medical field and the community Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related field Experience at UB in an academic and/or research environment Experience in community-based research Experience with SPSS and/or Atlas TI/REDCap other technology platforms Physical Demands Frequently moves boxes and tables weighing up to 50 pounds for community outreach event.
