Media and Communications Officer

Kew Wakehurst is looking for an experienced Media and Communications Officer to join their dynamic on-site Marketing & Strategic Communications team in Sussex. The Media and Communications Officer will contribute to the delivery of a strong media profile through creative and impactful PR campaigns that develop Kew Wakehurst's reputation as a wild botanic garden and living laboratory. They will support storytelling and content gathering by identifying and writing stories that support our communications goals. The postholder will also contribute to the efficient operation of the Wakehurst press office function.

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to support the delivery of impactful PR campaigns that secure high-profile coverage across broadcast, print and digital platforms, ideally within a cultural organisation or visitor attraction. You will have experience working in a busy press office alongside exceptional copywriting, communication, and relationship-building skills. Educated to a degree level with a proven background in a similar role, you will be a collaborative team player and articulate communicator with a meticulous eye for detail. Capable of producing accurate, high-quality work at pace, you will be confident creating content across multiple digital channels and engaging a wide range of audiences.

This role will involve a modest amount (approx 30-50h per annum) of evening and weekend work, including for press events, film/photography shoots, on-call media duties during peak times and communications during adverse weather. Interviews are due to take place on 22 October.

This role is based at Wakehurst with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is a leading plant science institute, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and major visitor attraction.
