Community Engagement Staff

Job Description

A Community Engagement Staff focuses on fostering inclusion, independence, and social connections for individuals with disabilities through community-based activities and support services. Staff are responsible for accompanying clients to scheduled activities throughout the week, encouraging active participation in these activities, and promoting positive interactions with others in the community.
Key Responsibilities include:
Community Integration:
Assist adults with disabilities in participating in community activities such as volunteering, attending social events, and joining interest-based clubs. Use public transportation when it supports client goals.
Support and Advocacy:
Provide one-on-one support to help individuals navigate community resources, advocate for their needs and build meaningful relationships.
Program Coordination:
Plan and facilitate community events, workshops, and social gatherings that promote inclusion and engagement. This may involve collaborating with local organizations and volunteers.
Resource Connection:
Connect individuals to local services, educational opportunities, and recreational activities that align with their interests and goals. Communicate clearly with clients and team members.
Staff Expectations:
Staff are expected to attend all scheduled meetings and required trainings, adhere to agency policies and procedures, and complete tasks assigned by the Community Engagement Manager or their designee. Additionally, staff are responsible for independently obtaining 12 CEU training hours each calendar year to support ongoing professional development.
