Marketing & Communications Specialist About our Organization Congregation Kol Tikvah is a Reform Jewish synagogue located in Parkland, Florida, serving Northwest Broward County for more than 35 years. Our vibrant community of 310 families is a welcoming, inclusive, and egalitarian home for Jewish life, learning, and connection. Over the past three decades, Kol Tikvah has grown into a multigenerational kehillah kedoshah — a sacred community — united by a shared love of Judaism, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a desire to support one another through every stage of life. Position Summary The Marketing & Communications Specialist coordinates Congregation Kol Tikvah's marketing and communications function, serving as the central point of accountability for the synagogue's brand, messaging, and integrated marketing strategy. The role is responsible for developing and executing communications that strengthen the synagogue's visibility, deepen engagement among current members, attract prospective members, and increase awareness throughout the broader community. Working collaboratively with clergy, staff, lay leadership, and volunteers, this individual serves as the central steward of Kol Tikvah's voice, ensuring consistent messaging and branding across all communications. This role partners closely with the Outreach & Events Coordinator, who provides event information, member stories, and program details for promotion. Essential Responsibilities Marketing Strategy & Communications Establish and manage the workflow for all marketing requests, campaigns, events, and fundraising promotions, ensuring initiatives are reviewed, prioritized, and approved by appropriate leadership before marketing execution begins. Develop and execute the synagogue's annual marketing and communications strategy in collaboration with the Marketing Task Force and synagogue leadership. Create and maintain a comprehensive editorial and communications calendar. Establish communication priorities and messaging in collaboration with clergy and leadership. Develop marketing campaigns that support membership growth, engagement, fundraising, education, worship, and community programming. Measure campaign performance and provide regular reporting and recommendations. Brand Management Serve as the day-to-day steward of the Kol Tikvah brand, ensuring consistency in voice, messaging, visual identity, and communications across all channels. Develop and maintain brand standards and communication guidelines. Ensure all communications accurately reflect the synagogue's mission, values, and culture. Content Development Write, edit, and manage all organizational communications, coordinating and refining content provided by clergy, staff, committees, volunteers, and lay leadership to ensure a consistent voice, accuracy, and alignment with synagogue priorities. Manage digital communications with a special focus on video content.
Produce and oversee:
Weekly emails and newsletters Website content Social media Event promotions Membership campaigns Annual reports Brochures and print collateral Digital Marketing Manage and continually improve the synagogue website. Oversee email marketing strategy in collaboration with the Marketing Task Force and synagogue leadership and execution with special focus on video content. Develop and manage social media content calendars and campaigns. Optimize digital communications to increase engagement, registrations, and membership inquiries. Monitor analytics and recommend improvements based on performance. Marketing Support for Programs & Events Partner with Jill Ruddy to translate program information, event details, and member stories into cohesive marketing campaigns and communications. Establish promotional timelines and communication plans for major programs. Membership & Community Growth Develop campaigns to attract prospective members. Support member retention initiatives through strategic communications. Promote synagogue programs that deepen engagement and strengthen community connections. Cross-Department Collaboration Coordinate with clergy, staff, and committees to evaluate new marketing, event, and fundraising requests, balancing organizational priorities, available resources, and the communications calendar before work begins. Collaborate with the Outreach & Events Coordinator to ensure event information, member stories, and program updates are communicated effectively. Work with office staff on major projects, including high holidays, large events, and general office support. Support fundraising, membership, education, youth, and community engagement initiatives through strategic marketing. Reports To Executive Director Success will be demonstrated by: Increased membership inquiries and visitor engagement. Higher participation in synagogue programs and events. Strong, cohesive, consistent branding across all communications. Growth in email engagement, website traffic, and social media performance. Increased visibility throughout the local community and Jewish media. Efficient communication processes that allow staff to focus on their core responsibilities while ensuring timely, strategic promotion of synagogue initiatives. Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, digital marketing, or a related field, with demonstrated experience managing multiple stakeholders with strong personalities, balancing competing priorities, and coordinating cross-functional projects. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Experience managing websites, email marketing platforms, and social media. Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with video editing software, email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), content management systems (e.g., WordPress), Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace. Experience with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or Final Cut Pro is preferred. Familiarity with analytics tools and marketing performance metrics. Understanding of Jewish culture, traditions, holidays, and synagogue life is preferred. Be a team player who is collaborative, creative, strategic, and highly organized with excellent interpersonal skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
Total annual salary for this position is budgeted for up to $55,000 per year Additional benefits include: Access to retirement plan (403b) Access to health, vision, life and dental insurance Paid time off Membership in our congregational community, along with access to our Mensch University religious school program, Phylis J.
