Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Marketing and Communications Intern will support the cooperative's marketing, communications, and public relations efforts through a variety of creative and strategic projects. This is a cross-functional internship designed to provide broad, hands-on experience across multiple specialties, including marketing, communications, graphic design, photography, social media, writing, event planning, community engagement, and other related functions. The position offers the opportunity to develop a diverse skill set while contributing to meaningful projects that support the cooperative's members and communities. Responsibilities Assist in producing print and electronic communication materials for internal and external audiences, including newsletters, press releases, brochures, ads, bill inserts, presentation materials and content for social media, website, and lobby. Monitor, create and publish content for co-op's Facebook page, in alignment with co-op objectives and social media policy. Capture, edit, and organize digital media of cooperative events, employees, facilities, and community activities for use across print and digital communications. Support the planning and execution of special projects. Assist with planning, coordinating, and staffing cooperative events. Complete other projects as assigned.

JOB CRITERIA
Current student enrolled at a 2-year or 4-year college or university working toward a degree in one of the following programs: marketing, communications, business management, or graphic design. Must be able to acquire within a reasonable time span working knowledge of the cooperative's marketing programs. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Software proficiency:
Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva preferred.
Creative production skills:
Design, photo editing, video production preferred.
Digital publishing skills:
Web content management preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy while managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgement, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Valid Minnesota driver's license with insurable driving record is required. This is a part-time, paid internship based in our Mankato office and requires in-person attendance. The position operates in a professional office environment under standard office working conditions. Minimal travel may be required. The internship is scheduled for up to 16 weeks, beginning in August and concluding in December. Interns will work approximately 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support organizational needs.
