Southwest Health and Human Services currently has an opening for a Communications Specialist in our Marshall office. Southwest Health and Human Services (SWHHS) is a multi-county agency committed to strengthening individuals, families and communities by providing quality services in a respectful, caring and cost-effective manner. Public Health is seeking an individual to communicate and market the Public Health division's programs, services and initiatives by developing, executing and evaluating communication plans and strategies. The Communications Specialist role will be to provide communication support to each Public Health program area; create informational and promotional pieces that highlight Public Health work; build and strengthen relationships with community partners and coalition members to advance prevention initiatives and improve community health outcomes; maintain the Public Health webpage; develop, execute and evaluate communication plans and media campaigns for a variety of community health initiatives; and provide assistance with public information and communications in case of a Public Health emergency or outbreak.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Health, or a related field. Professional experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Canva, and website content management systems. Two years of work experience in the communications field planning, writing, editing and developing various print and electronic communications, preferably in the Public Health field. Possession of a valid driver's license or alternative ability to travel to off-site meetings, trainings and events in a timely manner. Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to write professional informational and promotional documents.
Preferred Experience:
Knowledge of Public Health and prevention strategies Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Experience in plain language and accessibility requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrates ability to manage multiple projects and priorities Experience working with diverse populations Self-motivated SWHHS offers a flexible schedule and competitive benefits.
