Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Communication Specialist is responsible for managing COCA's written communications. This will include institutional communication, including but not limited to executive communications, both internal and external, the COCA website, as well as various print publications. The Communication Specialist will also manage communication support roles as well as freelance projects as necessary.

Develop a thorough understanding of COCA's voice, messaging, and brand to ensure consistent quality across all platforms and that all content adheres to strict brand guidelines. Manage and maintain COCA website using WordPress; HTML knowledge is helpful. This includes content management, content creation, and reporting monthly on website analytics. Draft COCA's press releases, route for necessary approvals, and maintain the overall press release schedule. Act as editor and proofreader for departments leaders and their respective communications needs. Develop core language and messaging that can be customized by platform. When needed, assist with offsite marketing opportunities during evening and weekends. Other duties as assigned. Education and/or
Qualifications:
Passion for COCA's mission. Knowledgeable about issues and trends facing the arts and arts education. 3 years' experience in communication, journalism, or a related field is preferred. Non-profit experience desirable. Bachelor's degree. Journalism, communications, or other relevant fields preferred. Must be proficient in WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, and Microsoft Office.
Competencies:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive, passionate communicator. Ability to problem solve, manage projects, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced culture. Self-motivated and detail-oriented with demonstrated organizational skills. Ability to work effectively on a team and independently to see projects through to completion.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Must have manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard and standard office equipment. This person needs to move about the inside of the office and events. This requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. This position is eligible for hybrid and remote work, subject to COCA's Hybrid & Remote Work policy.
