POSITION SUMMARY
The Member Relations and Communications Coordinator is responsible for promoting positive relationships between Tishomingo County Electric Power Association (TCEPA) and the members and communities it serves. This position serves as a highly visible representative of TCEPA and is responsible for developing and coordinating member communications, social media, public information, community outreach, events, and other activities designed to keep members informed and engaged with their electric cooperative. Social media management and community outreach are key components of this position. The Coordinator will develop informative, timely, and engaging content that communicates TCEPA's mission, services, programs, projects, safety information, community involvement, outage information, and other cooperative activities. Because TCEPA provides an essential public service and may experience severe weather, power outages, emergencies, and other events requiring immediate communication, the Coordinator must be available to assist with communications and member relations outside normal business hours when necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESMember Relations
Serve as a primary point of contact for member relations and public communications.
Promote positive relationships between TCEPA and its members.
Respond professionally and courteously to member questions, concerns, comments, and requests.
Assist members in understanding TCEPA services, programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Identify recurring member concerns and communicate significant issues to management.
Work closely with TCEPA employees and departments to help provide accurate and timely information to members.
Attend member meetings, cooperative events, and community functions as a representative of TCEPA.
Promote excellent member service and maintain a professional image of TCEPA at all times.
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT
Social media management is a primary responsibility of this position.
Manage TCEPA's official social media accounts and digital communication platforms.
Develop and maintain a regular social media content schedule.
Create and publish accurate, timely, informative, and engaging content.
Provide members with outage updates, restoration information, severe-weather information, safety information, planned maintenance notices, and other important announcements.
Develop content highlighting TCEPA employees, crews, projects, equipment, facilities, community involvement, and cooperative accomplishments.
Promote TCEPA programs, services, energy-efficiency information, safety initiatives, events, and member opportunities.
Monitor comments, questions, reviews, messages, and other social media activity involving TCEPA.
Respond to social media inquiries professionally and appropriately.
Escalate complaints, sensitive matters, or potentially significant issues to management when appropriate.
Coordinate with TCEPA management and departments to verify information before it is publicly distributed.
Maintain a consistent, professional, and positive TCEPA voice across all social media platforms.
Develop photographs, videos, graphics, announcements, and other content for digital publication.
Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities to improve member engagement.
Maintain appropriate records of significant social media communications when required.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Community outreach is a key responsibility of this position.
Represent TCEPA at community events, civic organizations, schools, businesses, fairs, festivals, meetings, and other public functions.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with community organizations and leaders.
Coordinate TCEPA participation in community events and activities.
Identify opportunities for TCEPA to increase its visibility and positive presence throughout Tishomingo County and the communities served by the Association.
Assist with school programs and educational outreach.
Promote electrical safety and energy-efficiency education.
Assist with presentations to schools, civic organizations, community groups, and other organizations.
Coordinate member appreciation activities and community programs.
Promote TCEPA's role as a locally owned and locally operated electric cooperative.
Develop partnerships and relationships that strengthen TCEPA's connection with the communities it serves.
MEMBER COMMUNICATIONS
Prepare and distribute member communications, newsletters, announcements, flyers, website content, social media posts, press releases, and other informational materials.
Assist with communications regarding planned outages, construction, maintenance, system improvements, safety, severe weather, and emergency situations.
Ensure public communications are accurate, timely, professional, and easy for members to understand.
Assist management in developing communication strategies for significant events and issues.
Coordinate communications with appropriate TCEPA departments.
Assist with media inquiries and public information requests as directed by management.
Maintain appropriate communication with local media outlets and community organizations.
Assist with annual meeting communications and other major TCEPA events.
Assist with refinement and implementation of Crisis Communication Plan
EMERGENCY AND AFTER-HOURS COMMUNICATIONS
Due to the essential nature of TCEPA's operations, after-hours availability is an essential function of this salaried position. The Coordinator may be required to:
Assist with social media and member communications during major outages.
Provide timely updates during severe weather and emergency situations.
Communicate restoration information provided by TCEPA operations personnel.
Assist with public communications during storms and other emergencies.
Respond to urgent communication needs outside normal business hours.
Assist management with emergency public-information efforts.
Attend or participate in emergency response or storm restoration activities when communications support is required.
The employee must maintain reliable communication availability and be capable of responding appropriately to urgent communication needs outside normal working hours.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain confidentiality of TCEPA information.
Exercise sound judgment when dealing with members, employees, media, and the public.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor when representing TCEPA.
Follow all TCEPA policies, procedures, safety rules, and applicable laws and regulations.
Protect the reputation and public image of TCEPA.
Work cooperatively with all TCEPA departments.
Assist with special projects as assigned by the General Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer-service and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use social media platforms.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate professionally with members, employees, community leaders, media, and the general public.
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Valid driver's license.
Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and after-hours events or emergencies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's or bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, business, or a related field.
Previous experience managing social media for a business, organization, utility, governmental entity, or nonprofit.
Experience in public relations, marketing, community outreach, customer relations, or communications.
Experience with photography, videography, graphic design, and digital content creation.
Experience working for an electric cooperative, electric utility, municipality, or other public-service organization.
Knowledge of the Tishomingo County community and surrounding area.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is primarily based in an office environment but requires regular travel throughout TCEPA's service territory for community events, meetings, outreach activities, member functions, and other TCEPA business. The position may require work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, severe weather events, emergency situations, and major power outages. The employee may occasionally work outdoors and around TCEPA facilities, equipment, vehicles, employees, and community events.

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT STATUS
This is a full-time, salaried position with a normal work schedule of Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day . Due to the nature of TCEPA's operations, the position requires after-hours availability for emergency communications, major outages, severe weather, special events, community activities, and other situations requiring timely member or public communication. Salary and benefits will be established by Tishomingo County Electric Power Association based upon qualifications, experience, and the Association's established compensation structure.
