Job Description

Summit Assistance Dogs is a nonprofit organization that creates life-changing partnerships by providing highly-skilled mobility service dogs for people living with disabilities. Position Description:
The Communications and Community Outreach Coordinator supports Summit Assistance Dogs' communications, community outreach, volunteer engagement, and fundraising efforts. This position plays a key role in increasing public awareness of Summit's mission through digital communications, presentations, events, and community partnerships while supporting donor stewardship, volunteer recognition, and organizational programs.

Communications & Marketing
  • Manage, design, schedule, and monitor Summit's social media platforms using Meta Business Suite and other scheduling tools.
  • Create, design, and coordinate the publication of monthly e-newsletters, the annual report, and other print and digital communications.
  • Maintain and update the Summit Assistance Dogs website with current news, events, and program information.
  • Design marketing materials including brochures, flyers, event invitations, signage, presentations, and promotional pieces.
  • Organize and maintain the organization's digital photo and media library.
  • Assist with public relations opportunities and media planning to increase awareness of Summit's mission.
  • Create reports and mailing lists to support organizational communications and outreach. Community Outreach
  • Create and deliver engaging presentations to community groups, schools, corporations, service organizations, and other audiences.
  • Represent Summit Assistance Dogs at outreach events, community fairs, and informational booths.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, and corporate partners to expand awareness and engagement.
  • Assist with workplace giving campaigns, including Microsoft Give and GiveBIG Washington.
  • Support the planning and coordination of fundraising events, community outreach events, corporate volunteer opportunities, and volunteer appreciation activities.
  • Coordinate event logistics, communications, registration, volunteer support, and event follow-up. Program & Volunteer Support
  • Assist with volunteer engagement and recognition initiatives.
  • Support volunteer appreciation events and recognition programs.
  • Assist with donor stewardship by preparing acknowledgements, recognition materials, and other donor communications.
  • Provide administrative and event coordination support for special programs, including the Monroe Correctional Complex Prison Program.
Desired Skills/Attributes:
Experience in nonprofit communications, fundraising, community outreach, marketing, or event coordination. Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills. Strong graphic design skills and experience producing both print and digital communications. Experience managing websites and social media platforms, including Meta Business Suite. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience coordinating events and volunteers. Friendly, outgoing, professional, and able to build long-term relationships with donors, volunteers, clients, and community partners. Familiarity with CRM databases, Microsoft Office Suite, Mailchimp, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team. Ability to maintain donor and client confidentiality. Comfortable working around dogs and assisting with dogs during events. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including setting up events, lifting supplies, and transporting materials. Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel throughout the Puget Sound region as needed.

$52,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
