Job Description

Product Specialist Air Distribution Technologies, Inc. - 2.8 Grandview, MO Job Details 9 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Pricing analysis Technical documentation Sales analysis ERP systems Mid-level Incident Escalation Technical user customer support Collaboration with product development teams Bachelor's degree Sales quoting Operational risk mitigation Product management Sales experience within tech Sales management systems proficiency AS400 Relationship management CRM system proficiency Providing product information Escalation handling 2 years Communication skills Cross-functional communication Full Job Description The Product Specialist is the technical and operational owner of assigned product lines, sitting at the intersection of Product Management and Commercial Operations. This role acts as the front-line technical resource for Regional Sales Managers, reps, and clients working with those product lines, and partners closely with the Client Operations Specialist (COS) to keep quotes technically sound and accurately priced. The Product Specialist is expected to resolve technical questions and escalations proactively, providing strategic recommendations wherever a standard answer doesn't apply. What You'll Do Quoting & Pricing Create accurate quotes based on client specs, scope, and project requirements, collaborating with the COS to ensure every quote is accurately priced before it reaches the rep. Own quote accuracy for spec, scope, and project requirements, including CRM/quoting tool entry and quote issuance. Own technical risk and feasibility review, with sign-off on technical accuracy before pricing is finalized. Own historical pricing and product performance analysis, provided to Regional Sales Managers on request. Product Standardization & Technical Ownership Support and enforce product standardization across the assigned portfolio. Maintain product matrices, spec sheets, and sizing guidelines, escalating discrepancies to Product Management or Engineering as needed. Own technical specifications and product configuration for assigned lines — the go-to source of expertise for RSMs, reps, and clients. Enablement & Cross-Functional Collaboration Champion assigned product lines: partner with Product Management to build use cases, best-practice guides, and reusable demonstration assets for internal teams. Partner with Engineering, Product Marketing, and COS to keep solution documentation and roadmap alignment consistent across teams. Technical Escalation Field technical product questions from Regional Sales Managers, reps, and clients, providing strategic recommendations where a standard answer doesn't apply. Approvals & Risk Management Conduct daily SDA reviews, approving within delegated Delegation of Authority (DoA) or escalating to leadership when thresholds are exceeded. Ensure adherence to transactional control conditions on quotes and product changes, flagging areas of operational risk as they develop. Own the liaison relationship between Regional Sales Managers, plants, and Operations on product-related matters.
Quoting Ownership:
Product Specialist vs. COS Quoting is a shared responsibility. The Product Specialist owns the technical side of every quote — configuration, feasibility, and sign-off — while the COS owns intake, routing, and the commercial side. What We Look For 2+ years of experience in product support, technical sales, or a related product/commercial role. Working knowledge of quoting processes; comfort with CRM and ERP systems (SugarSell preferred; AS/400 and Edge/Atlas quoting tools a plus). Ability to operate independently on defined product decisions while knowing when to escalate. Strong written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiences, internal and client-facing. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. #
