Job Description

Position Summary:
The Guest Services Associate is a self-motivated team player who can provide exceptional service to all visitors. Guest Services Associates play an integral role in making the museum accessible and welcoming to all visitors. This role requires high level customer service skills, strong knowledge of the museum's offerings, and flexibility to assist in many ways, including conducting ticket, gift shop, and membership sales, checking in and welcoming groups of all sizes, and program and event setup and support.
Primary Functions and Major Responsibilities:
The Guest Services Associate is familiar with and able to perform all front desk and gift shop daily operations including visitor check-in, ticket sales, welcoming, orienting, membership sales, merchandise sales, inventory management, stocking, ushering, gallery monitoring, and all related functions. This individual is a leader in providing a clean, professional, friendly, and safe environment for visitors to enjoy the Museum's facilities and programs.
Duties include:
  • Greet and welcome guests in a warm and welcoming manner to promote and provide information about museum membership, programs and events, exhibitions, and shop merchandise, assist with wayfinding and general inquiries via face to face, phone, and email interactions
  • Assist in preparation for programs, events, and the daily opening and closing of the museum
  • Staying current with all daily programs and events to communicate updates to arriving staff, volunteers, and event hosts as needed
  • Monitor public areas including lobby, gift shop, and exhibit spaces to help ensure spaces are well maintained
  • Maintain good working knowledge of the area and be prepared to provide directions to the museum and other local establishments via email, phone, or in person
  • Timely answering of phones to provide assistance with all aspects of the visitor experience, direct calls to other museum staff, and respond to emergency alerts
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly when and where they occur in a manner that is satisfactory to all parties
  • Conduct daily briefings and ensure that all guest services staff are prepared logistically to assist and support other departments as needed
  • Cash, check, and credit card handling and accurate counting of museum cash drawers in accordance with museum policy
  • Maintain functional working knowledge of admission ticketing and point of sale system for museum store to perform all aspects of the position including daily reconciliation of cash and credit card transactions after closing
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Promote and sell membership to visitors with a sales-focused understanding of all levels and benefits in accordance with development department direction
  • Report directly to Guest Services Manager daily regarding visitor feedback, day-to-day operations, event setup, concerns, and equipment needs
  • Other duties as required related to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for Museum guests as well as the safety and security of the Museum's collection and staff
Qualifications:
  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a wide variety of people and skill sets
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Friendly, outgoing personality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Excellent computer skills; familiarity with Office 365 preferred
  • Proficient in the use and understanding of databases, Blackbaud product experience a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
