OVERVIEW
Catherine Cartie is seeking a creative, organized, and highly motivated Marketing Intern to join the team beginning in October. This is an ongoing part-time role, starting with a hands-on training period alongside our Brand Manager, learning the full scope of Catherine Cartie's marketing operations across social media, email, SMS, e-commerce, and events. From December through February, our Brand Manager will be on maternity leave, and this intern will step into an expanded role to keep our marketing engine running — with a strong emphasis on content creation. We're looking for someone genuinely creative, comfortable being the face and hands behind the camera, and skilled at producing engaging Reels and polished graphic design in Canva. Once the Brand Manager returns, the intern will continue on with the team, applying the skills and ownership built during this period to support Catherine Cartie's marketing efforts long-term. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants real ownership and hands-on creative experience with a growing brand.
TRAINING PERIOD
—
OCTOBER & NOVEMBER
Working closely under the Brand Manager, the intern will: Learn the Catherine Cartie brand voice, visual identity, and content standards across all channels. Shadow and assist with day-to-day content creation, including capturing photo and video, editing, and writing captions. Get hands-on training in our core marketing tools: Later.com for scheduling, Klaviyo for email/SMS, Shopify for e-commerce, and Canva for graphic design. Begin building an independent portfolio of Reels and graphics under the Brand Manager's guidance and feedback. Learn the seasonal marketing calendar and how content planning supports upcoming launches and events.
EXPANDED ROLE
—
DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY
This is the heart of the role. While the Brand Manager is on leave, the intern will take the lead on day-to-day content creation and marketing execution, with an emphasis on creativity, consistency, and keeping the Catherine Cartie brand voice front and center.
Reels & Video:
Own Reels content from concept to publish — filming, editing, trend research, captions, and posting, with a strong focus on increasing our short-form video output.
Graphic Design:
Design a high volume of on-brand graphics in Canva, including social media posts and stories, email graphics, promotional materials, and event assets.
Content Calendar:
Maintain and update the social media content calendar through Later.com, ensuring consistent, on-time posting across all platforms.
Email & SMS:
Assist with building and scheduling email and SMS campaigns in Klaviyo for promotions, product launches, and holiday initiatives.
Events:
Support marketing efforts for any winter pop-ups or events, including on-site content capture as needed.
E-Commerce:
Provide basic Shopify support, including product uploads, updates, and ensuring product content stays accurate and on-brand.
Escalation:
Bring brand-sensitive decisions or questions to Catherine Cartie directly while the Brand Manager is unavailable.
CONTINUING ON
—
AFTER THE BRAND MANAGER RETURNS
This role doesn't end when the Brand Manager returns in March — it's an ongoing position. The intern will continue supporting Catherine Cartie's marketing efforts, working alongside the Brand Manager and carrying forward the Reels and graphic design skills built during the leave coverage period. Continue producing Reels and short-form video content as part of the regular content mix. Stay involved in Canva graphic design work for social, email, and promotional materials. Return to a supporting role alongside the Brand Manager across social media, email/SMS, e-commerce, and events. Bring forward the ownership and creative judgment developed during the coverage period into day-to-day collaboration.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Highly creative with a natural eye for engaging, on-brand content — especially Reels and short-form video. Confident and skilled in Canva, with an ability to produce polished graphic design work independently. Comfortable stepping into a more independent role during the coverage period and taking ownership of deliverables. Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable, with the ability to manage a busy content calendar with minimal oversight. Strong communicator who can flag questions or brand-sensitive decisions proactively. Experience with Later.com, Klaviyo, Shopify, and basic photo/video editing tools is a plus, but a strong Reels and Canva portfolio is most important.
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
$15.00 per hour, part-time, ongoing. October and November spent training directly under the Brand Manager. December through February spent leading day-to-day content and marketing execution while the Brand Manager is on leave. March onward, continuing on with the team in a supporting marketing role. Schedule to be coordinated around the intern's availability and Catherine Cartie's marketing and event calendar.
