Job Description

Marin County Tourism is a private, 501-c6 funded by Marin County Tourism Business Improvement District to promote Marin County as an overnight destination. Marin County Tourism is seeking a full-time, experienced marketing and hospitality professional who is compassionate, relationship-focused, and business savvy with people, businesses and projects. Primary ResponsibilitiesPartnership Program Management Oversee the Partnership Program, focusing on retaining current partners and cultivating new relationships.
Key duties include:
Proactively engaging non-lodging businesses within visitor market to build awareness of MCT partnership benefits with goal of business joining; Following up on all prospective partnership inquiries and leads via email or phone communications; Developing and implementing partnership marketing materials, including partner application, benefits for print and digital uses; Responsible for full partnership administration, including: Monthly invoicing via FreshBooks and sending to partner via email communication Updating contact information across all systems Managing partner account payments and deposits Overseeing partnership retention efforts and terminations Creating and maintaining website listings (including photos) and updating partner information across relevant website pages Communicating all partner-related information to MCT Team and support staff via Basecamp emails Leading all partnership-related public relations, including: Increasing regular communication with non-lodging partners through emails and phone calls and Attending participating chamber and industry partner mixers and events Leading MCT partner collaborations and fam tours, such as West Marin 101 Day Identifying new ways for MCT to engage with the greater Bay Area community Communicating MCT's community involvement with MCT staff and board Value-Added Programs & Events Create and manage value-added offerings such as a Passport program / co-op map programs and annual gatherings for all partners. Collaborate with the President on partner business promotion in digital newsletters and for advertising stories. Ensure partner events are communicated to the MCT support team so they can be posted on MCT events calendar. Represent MCT at partner events when available. Collateral Management Maintain an up-to-date inventory of partner and MCT marketing collateral, ensuring brochures are current and MCT maps are properly distributed. Film Liaison Resource Assistance Under Director of Sales and Marketing guidance, assist with film-related inquiries and activities in Marin County, including: Responding to film industry inquiries and connecting production contacts with appropriate local resources Ensuring all film-related information on the website is accurate and current (locations, permits, contacts, and resources) Assisting with local film commissions, businesses, and lodging partners to support film-related visitor activity Lodging Resource Act as the go-to resource for lodging inquiries throughout Marin County. Cross-Team Support Collaborate with MCT staff, providing administrative and marketing expertise on website content, collateral, membership/partnership programs, and special projects. Supportive Functions As directed by the President & CEO, this role may also include: Tech savvy with systems in general including computer, copier, and MCT website backend for website edits and initiative to troubleshoot when necessary Attending required meetings (staff, board, etc.) Contributing to annual budget development and short/long-term financial planning Participating in community public relations efforts Maintaining general workplace cleanliness and safety standards Modeling positive leadership to inspire team performance Completing additional duties as assigned by President & CEO Professional Requirements The ideal candidate brings a broad skill set in community relationship management and marketing, with the experience to immediately earn the confidence of MCT leadership. This role owns all Partnership relationships and programs.
Sought-after qualifications include:
College degree preferred, with 3 years experience in DMO management, or at least 8-10 years of relevant professional experience in marketing, association / partnership management, sales, hospitality/ hotel environment Working knowledge of partnership administration and visitor advertising/promotion practices with proven partnership marketing skills Proficient capabilities of hospitable service, administration experience and account management and negotiation Solid understanding of SEO and internet marketing; proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, database and website management systems Familiarity with Marin County's lodging and conference/group industry (preferred) Experience working with advertising, marketing, market research, PR, and communications agencies Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence others while accurately representing MCT's positions Demonstrated leadership in building long-term relationships with small to mid-size businesses Understanding of the operational demands facing various businesses, with a track record of developing supportive programs to help them succeed Awareness of the private, public, and governmental institutions shaping the hospitality/tourism industry Must either live in Marin County or be closely familiar with the region in order to make informed referrals and actively participate in local industry events Professional Responsibilities This role's core mandate is to identify non-lodging businesses within the visitor market and bring them into the MCT Partnership Program. Priority focus areas for the coming year and beyond: Strengthen existing Partnership Program benefits Improve Partnership Administration practices Develop and maintain effective Partnership Programs that drive tourism in Marin County Build partner satisfaction to the point that partners actively advocate for MCT and raise public awareness of partnership benefits Perform additional duties as assigned by President & CEO Personal Characteristics & Qualifications Energetic, enthusiastic, and genuinely excited about MCT's mission; strong customer service orientation, follow-through and commitment to results Strong phone presence with a "smile in your voice" — warm, welcoming, and professional tone in all phone interactions Polished communicator with strong public speaking skills; commands respect and credibility; exercises initiative, judgment, and diplomacy Inspires confidence through a credible, compelling style with proven leadership and management ability Well-balanced personally and professionally, with a good sense of humor Both a "doer" and an effective delegator and quick to grasp complex political and economic dynamics Highly organized, with strong deadline management and comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously Above-average administrative and technical skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and data management systems Entrepreneurial and adaptable; energized by growth and change; quick and flexible thinker Team-oriented and participative, with confidence, sound intuition, and the ability to think creatively while maintaining good business judgment Solid working knowledge of Marin County Compensation and Benefits Full-time, salaried position reports to the President & CEO References will be expected.
Salary Range:
$70,000 - $76,000 After 90 days of employment, potential increase in salary based on performance, plus benefits including 42 hours sick and 10 vacation hours (accrual based), holiday pay for 9 observed holidays, medical, dental and 401K programs will be provided.
