Position Summary:
Goshen College, seeks a visionary and collaborative Senior Director of Marketing to establish and manage the strategic direction for the College's marketing efforts. The Senior Director of Marketing will lead the planning, development, and delivery of marketing services that advance how Goshen College is discovered, understood, and selected for higher education. This position provides leadership in developing strategies, digital infrastructure, and organizational design to ensure secure, reliable, and innovative marketing services.
Essential Functions:
(Core Job Responsibilities) Strategic Leadership and Vision Develop and implement the Marketing Strategies and Plan that align with the College's mission and strategic priorities. Clarify Goshen College's priority audience(s) and develop measurables for assessing an individual's engagement with the Marketing experience. Define and implement a clear and cohesive marketing plan that assists the Communications and other teams. Position resources and personnel to be innovative leaders within the College on emerging technologies in web architecture, AI and other resources to enhance effectiveness of the Marketing Department. Provide guidance to all Goshen College teams in developing guidelines and standards for web design and properties. Develop and implement strategies to ensure Goshen College's signature programs surface in traditional search and AI generated college recommendations. Develop and implement clearly defined measurables to track an individual's experience from initial contact with Goshen College through enrollment and student retention. Develop a concise format for sharing measurable data with Admissions, Advancement, and Cabinet to assist in planning and decision making. Develop strategies for ensuring paid media, email sequencing, and text/WhatsApp communications are consistent and focused Develop strategies to enhance the college's identification and engagement with prospective students including local first-generation inquiries, transfer students, and graduate students in partnership with Enrollment. Serve as a strategic partner with Institutional Advancement in developing shared brand standards and architecture. Develop strategies to ensure visual and messaging coherence across all campus partners and communication initiatives Develop strategies to evaluate revenue opportunities in partnership with Institutional Advancement, CIO and the Cabinet Develop and manage a Marketing Budget and Plan that Establishes clearly defined baseline measurables Ensures positive vendor and contractor relationships Identifies Grant-eligible marketing expenditures Establishes baselines and targets for search visibility, inquiry-to-application and application-to-enrollment conversions rates, website engagement, share of voice in AI-generated searches, donor count, and giving-day participation.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervise and direct the Marketing and Communication Team including the: Communications editorial lead News and Media Manager Digital Media Specialist Graphic Design Web Strategist Content Strategist/Marketing Coordinator Develop and implement an operational model that assists subordinates define strategies for: Intake Prioritization of marketing strategies Service levels Working norms
Education and Experience:
BA required with emphasis in marketing, digital marketing, business or related field; MBA preferred 5 - 8 years of progressive marketing leadership experience Demonstrated knowledge and experience in digital marketing, web strategy, SEO, analytics, and content architecture (required) Demonstrated experience with generative engine optimization (GEO/AEO) or a track record of adapting quickly to new discoverable channels Higher education, non-profit, or mission-driven organization experience strongly preferred Demonstrated hands-on use of AI tools An appreciation of the Anabaptist-Mennonite faith perspective and commitment to the mission, vision, core values, and community standards of Goshen College.

Physical Demands:
Ability to lift light loads (up to 25 pounds) Prolonged sitting and use of keyboard Ability to complete primary tasks by viewing computer screen(s) for the majority of any given work day (extensive use of computer technology) Movement from building to building on campus
