ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a knowledgeable, creative, and detail-oriented Natural & Herbal Product Formulation Specialist to join our growing business. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with herbs, botanicals, natural oils, butters, clays, extracts, and other plant-based ingredients and understands how to develop high-quality natural and non-toxic personal-care products. This individual will be responsible for helping us develop, formulate, test, document, and produce a variety of natural products, including body butters, hair and scalp oils, natural toothpaste, scrubs, balms, skincare products, and other herbal and botanical products. We are looking for someone who is passionate about natural ingredients and enjoys turning ideas into high-quality, consistent, finished products. This position has the opportunity to grow from part-time to full-time as our product line and production needs expand.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Formulation & Development Research herbs, botanicals, oils, butters, extracts, clays, and other natural ingredients. Develop and improve natural product formulas. Create test batches and evaluate product performance. Measure and combine ingredients accurately. Maintain detailed formulation and recipe records. Scale formulas from small test batches to larger production batches. Develop products with consistent texture, appearance, scent, and performance. Research ingredient properties, compatibility, recommended usage levels, and potential interactions. Identify opportunities for new natural and herbal products. Product Production Produce small and large batches of natural products. Follow approved formulas and production procedures. Maintain accurate measurements and batch records. Properly label and organize ingredients and finished products. Monitor product consistency and quality throughout production. Maintain clean and sanitary work areas and equipment. Follow established quality-control procedures. Products May Include Body butters Body oils Hair growth/scalp oils Beard oils Natural soaps Sugar and body scrubs Salves and balms Lip care products Natural toothpaste/oral-care products Herbal-infused oils Natural skincare products Botanical wellness products Other plant-based and non-toxic products Ingredient & Inventory Management Research and source quality natural ingredients. Maintain ingredient inventory. Monitor expiration dates and storage requirements. Maintain organized ingredient storage. Track product usage and production quantities. Identify ingredients that need to be reordered. Help evaluate potential suppliers and ingredient sources.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have: Demonstrated knowledge of herbs, botanicals, and natural ingredients. Hands-on experience making natural personal-care products. Experience formulating or developing products from raw ingredients. Strong understanding of oils, butters, herbs, extracts, clays, and botanical ingredients. Ability to accurately measure and document ingredients. Excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational skills. Ability to follow formulas and standard operating procedures. Ability to maintain a clean and sanitary production environment. Strong research and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently. Creativity and an interest in developing new products. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding proprietary formulas. Certifications or formal education are a plus, but demonstrated hands-on knowledge and experience are highly valued. This is a hands-on product-development and production position . We are looking for someone who can demonstrate actual knowledge and experience—not simply someone who enjoys natural products. Candidates should be prepared to discuss their previous experience developing or producing natural products and explain their understanding of ingredients, formulation, sanitation, consistency, and quality control.
