Job Description

Ability to Obtain DOD Secret Security Clearance. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Thin Film Materials & Process Engineer with extensive experience in sputtering and evaporation processes and designs for the development and production of advanced optical thin-film products. The engineer will support the technical development and production of advanced thin-film technology solutions and may provide mentoring and training to entry-level engineers and manufacturing technicians. This role will also serve as a primary technical contact for internal Program Managers across multiple projects and will collaborate closely with customers, vendors, engineering, manufacturing, and other technical teams. Key Responsibilities Support the technical development and production of advanced thin-film technology solutions. Develop and support sputtering and evaporation designs and processes used to produce optical thin-film-based products. Apply technical expertise to solve complex materials and process challenges. Serve as the primary technical contact for internal Program Managers across multiple projects. Provide technical guidance and support throughout product development and production activities. Mentor and train entry-level engineers and manufacturing technicians as needed. Utilize thin-film design tools such as: TFCalc, OptiLayer, FilmStar and FilmWizard Utilize advanced analytical and metrology tools to evaluate thin-film materials, processes, and products. Analyze technical and metrology data to support fact-based and data-driven engineering decisions. Collaborate with customers, vendors, Program Managers, engineers, manufacturing teams, and colleagues across the organization. Support technical discussions and engagements with internal and external stakeholders. Identify opportunities to improve thin-film processes, product performance, and manufacturing capabilities. Apply strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to technical challenges while maintaining a disciplined and results-oriented approach. Basic Qualifications 10-15 years of experience in advanced thin-film coatings. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field. Extensive experience with sputtering and evaporation designs and processes. Experience supporting the technical development and production of advanced thin-film-based technology solutions. Experience with one or more thin-film design software tools, such as TFCalc, OptiLayer, FilmStar, or FilmWizard. Experience with advanced analytical and thin-film metrology tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, Program Managers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel. BI03

$50.00 - $94.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
