Cheshire, CT Employment Type:
Full-time Salary Range:
$50,000-$70,000 annually About Pepperland Marketing Pepperland Marketing is an education-focused digital marketing agency serving colleges, universities, and independent schools. We help institutions attract and engage prospective students and families through enrollment strategy, content, search, paid media, websites, HubSpot, marketing automation, and analytics. Role Overview The Content Marketing Specialist creates and optimizes content for Pepperland and our education clients. Reporting to the Content Marketing Strategist, you'll turn content briefs, client input, subject-matter expertise, and research into clear, useful content across blogs, websites, email, social media, downloadable resources, and other formats. Long-form web content and blog articles will make up a significant share of the role, but you may also contribute to other formats such as short-form video, social media content, or podcasts. This is a hands-on production role for someone who enjoys writing every day, can quickly learn unfamiliar subjects, and cares about both editorial quality and performance. You'll collaborate with Strategists, SEO/AEO specialists, and other team members to produce content that reflects each client's voice, helps prospective students and families make informed decisions, and performs effectively in search and AI-driven answer experiences. Key Responsibilities Research, write, edit, and revise blog posts, website and landing-page copy, emails, downloadable resources, social content, scripts, and other marketing assets. Translate content briefs, client input, messaging guidance, and subject-matter expertise into clear, useful content for defined audiences and goals. Conduct independent research and interviews, verifying factual claims, quotes, statistics, and source-dependent information before delivery or publication. Apply SEO and AEO best practices to content structure, headings, internal links, metadata, citations, and other on-page elements. Build, format, publish, and quality-check approved content in HubSpot, WordPress, or other client content-management systems when required. Review content performance with Strategists and help identify opportunities to update, optimize, consolidate, expand, or repurpose existing content. Manage multiple assignments across client accounts, keep work current in our project management system, meet deadlines, and communicate early when dependencies or risks could affect delivery. Contribute to Pepperland's own content marketing and help improve the templates, workflows, standards, and tools used by the content team. Qualifications A BA/BS degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, plus at least two years of professional experience in content marketing, writing, journalism, communications, or a related role. A portfolio demonstrating strong long-form and web writing across multiple topics, audiences, or organizations. Excellent writing and editing skills, including strong command of grammar, structure, tone, clarity, and concise web copy. Strong research skills and the ability to learn unfamiliar subject matter quickly, ask useful questions, and evaluate the reliability of sources. Working knowledge of SEO and how audience intent, content structure, internal linking, metadata, and source quality affect organic visibility. Familiarity with AEO is a plus. Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines with strong organization, attention to detail, and reliable follow-through. Comfort receiving feedback, revising work, and collaborating with Strategists, clients, subject-matter experts, and other specialists. Experience with content-management, project-management, or marketing platforms. Familiarity with HubSpot, WordPress, Teamwork, or Google Workspace is especially relevant. Agency or education-sector experience is a plus. Location and Work Environment This is a full-time, in-office position based in our Cheshire, Connecticut office. Once established in the role, team members may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement based on the needs of the role and team. Occasional travel to client locations may also be required.
