Job Description
Participate in the development and execution of a communications calendar encompassing all internal and external communications and platforms including print, digital, social and public media.
Responsible for the development and implementation of social media campaigns including creating the content and maintaining the Food Bank's presence on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Assist in compiling direct mail lists and help provide return analytics to the Director of Development for all direct mail pieces and e-communications.
Support the Annual Giving program by designing and drafting both the new and lapsed donor mail pieces.
Assist with the coordination and creation of messaging, promotional materials and record keeping for the successful execution of the Holiday Campaign, March Against Hunger, Hunger Action Month, special events and other campaigns as directed.
Support marketing objectives by securing pictures, client stories, and documenting results from Outreach, corporate and organizational activities.
Promote and provide marketing support to individuals, groups, and the Outreach team to Peer-to-Peer fundraising and other cause marketing endeavors.
Develop materials to use for speaking engagements including PowerPoint Presentations and handouts.
Maintain accurate and up to date records for all community engagement activities in the appropriate data bases and department files.
Prepare reports on progress, budgets, expenditures, etc. for Feeding America or FBEM as assigned.
Assist the Donor Relations Coordinator with data entry support as requested.
Assists in creating and maintain departmental Standard Operation of Procedures
Work collaboratively with all FBEM departments to ensure accurate and consistent content and materials including; verifying website content is updated when needed and assist with any communication needs.
Maintain a media clippings/digital photo archive and a Story Bank for use on promotional materials.
Know and adhere to organizational policies and procedures, and work as an integral member of the development team.
Keep current with emerging trends and skills related to digital and social media marketing to maintain best practices in marketing and communications efforts.
Photograph various events related to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan including, but not limited to, fundraisers, distributions, check presentations and agency spotlights. Travel may be required.
Produce various videos for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to be used on social media and YouTube. Production includes scripting, filming, editing and publishing as well as maintaining a record of photographic release statements for all who are featured.
Act as a brand ambassador for the Food Bank and ensure that all promotional pieces using our logo strictly adheres to our brand guidelines.
Maintain and update a folder of corporate headshots (photography skills will be needed).
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree or working toward degree in a related field (Communication/Marketing/Creative Writing/Graphic Design preferred)
EXPERIENCE
Previous work experience with fundraising and non-profit organizations preferred.
Two years of work experience in Marketing/Communication position preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe design software, WordPress, Microsoft Publisher, Canva, printing processes, and photographic formats required.
Demonstrated ability to write and edit newsletters, annual reports, and promotional materials with proofreading skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems and web design.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to all constituents, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands.
Strong self-motivator, exercises good judgment, and ability to work as a team member.
Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends when necessary.
Must be physically able to assist with event setup and breakdown, including lifting up to 30 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. on occasion.
Additional Information
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment for day-to-day duties with desk work and computer usage. Travel to/from events as needed. Conditions may include working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions as needed and outside of the office at community events. Work hours will vary in relation to events and will involve evenings and weekends.
