JNCO Los Angeles

Director of Paid Media & Performance

Job Description

Director of Paid Media & Performance — JNCO Los Angeles, CA | Full-Time | In-House JNCO is looking for a highly experienced, hands-on Director of Paid Media & Performance to take direct ownership of a multi-million-dollar annual paid media budget across Meta, Google, TikTok and other channels. This is a fully in-house, hands-on role. You will personally manage and operate our paid media accounts—not oversee an outside agency or delegate day-to-day media buying. You will be directly responsible for campaign setup, optimization, budget allocation, testing and performance across our major acquisition channels. We are looking for someone who has personally managed and scaled significant DTC e-commerce advertising budgets and wants ownership of paid acquisition, performance analytics and customer intelligence for a growing consumer brand. You will work directly with JNCO's creative, e-commerce and leadership teams to improve acquisition efficiency, understand our customers and demographics, identify growth opportunities and determine where we should invest our next marketing dollar. What You'll Own Paid Media & Customer Acquisition You will personally own and operate our advertising accounts across Meta, Google, TikTok and other paid acquisition channels.
Responsibilities include:
Direct, day-to-day management of Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads and TikTok Ads Campaign strategy, architecture, setup and execution Budget allocation and daily pacing Bidding and optimization Prospecting and retargeting Audience and product segmentation Creative testing and iteration Google Search, Shopping and Performance Max TikTok advertising and creator amplification Identifying and testing additional acquisition channels Forecasting and performance reporting This position is designed for someone who still loves being inside the accounts. If your recent experience is primarily supervising agencies or managing teams that execute media buying for you, this is probably not the right role. You will have significant autonomy to recommend and move budget between channels based on performance and opportunity. Analytics, Customer Intelligence & Demographics A major part of this role is developing a deep understanding of who the JNCO customer is, how they behave, where they are coming from and how our customer base is changing over time. You will own the analysis—not simply wait for someone else to prepare reports.
This includes analyzing:
Customer demographics Age and gender trends Geographic performance and regional trends New vs. returning customer behavior Customer acquisition by channel Product affinity and purchasing behavior Average order value Repeat purchase behavior Customer cohorts and retention Customer lifetime value Conversion behavior Traffic-source quality Customer migration and demographic shifts over time Differences between our highest-value customer segments Emerging trends and changes within our customer base You should be able to identify meaningful changes early and explain what those changes could mean for paid media, creative, merchandising and the broader business. We want this person to become an internal authority on the JNCO customer and proactively bring insights to leadership—not simply respond when someone asks for a report. Performance Analytics & Attribution Develop a clear, independent view of marketing performance across channels rather than relying solely on platform-reported ROAS. Own and continuously improve reporting around: CAC New-customer
CAC ROAS MER
Contribution margin after marketing LTV/CAC Customer cohorts Channel incrementality Creative performance Geographic performance Product-level acquisition performance New vs. returning customer economics Build dashboards and reporting that allow leadership to quickly understand what is happening, why it is happening and what we should do about it. The expectation isn't simply reporting numbers. You should turn data into actionable recommendations about where we should invest the next marketing dollar. Creative Performance Work closely with our internal creative team to turn advertising performance and customer insights into better creative. Analyze which products, models, styling, photography, videos, hooks, formats and concepts are driving results—and with which customer segments. Translate those findings into actionable creative direction and testing opportunities. Build a structured creative testing program that helps answer not only which ads are winning, but why they are winning, who they are winning with and what we should make next. You will help create a tight feedback loop between creative production, customer behavior and acquisition performance. Conversion & Growth Work alongside our e-commerce team to identify opportunities throughout the customer journey. Use paid media, customer and site data to help develop and prioritize testing across: Landing pages Product detail pages Collection pages Offers and promotions Merchandising Mobile UX Conversion funnel The goal is not simply to generate traffic. It is to continuously improve the economics of acquiring and converting customers. You should be able to identify where we're losing customers in the funnel, develop hypotheses about why and work with the appropriate teams to test solutions. Growth Experimentation Continuously identify new opportunities to acquire customers beyond our existing channels. This may include YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, Snapchat, affiliates, creator partnerships, new advertising formats, new landing-page strategies and emerging platforms. We don't expect every experiment to work. We expect a disciplined process for testing, measuring, learning and scaling the ones that do. Who We're Looking For 5-8+ years of performance marketing / paid media experience Significant hands-on DTC e-commerce experience Personally managed and scaled seven-figure annual paid media budgets Deep expertise in Meta Ads Manager Strong hands-on Google Ads experience Experience personally managing TikTok advertising Experience with Shopify-based consumer brands Strong understanding of attribution and incrementality Strong analytical and financial instincts Strong experience analyzing customer, cohort, demographic and geographic data Ability to turn large amounts of data into clear business insights and recommendations Experience building dashboards and performance reporting Experience developing structured creative testing programs Comfortable working directly with creative and e-commerce teams Able to translate performance and customer data into actionable creative, merchandising and growth recommendations Comfortable operating strategically while remaining highly hands-on Experience in apparel, fashion, streetwear or youth-focused consumer brands is a major plus. Experience helping scale a DTC brand through the $10M-$50M+ revenue range is particularly attractive. The Person We're Looking For You are analytical without being paralyzed by data. You don't just know what happened—you want to understand why it happened. You notice when a particular region suddenly starts growing or declining, when the demographics of a customer cohort begin shifting, when a product starts attracting a different type of customer, or when an advertising channel appears successful but may not actually be creating incremental growth. You know when to scale aggressively and when performance data may be giving you a false signal. You understand that great performance marketing today is as much about creative, product, merchandising and customer behavior as it is about campaign settings. You question platform-reported performance and care about what is actually incremental to the business. You are comfortable challenging assumptions and explaining exactly why you believe we should—or should not—spend the next dollar. You move quickly, test constantly and take ownership of results. Most importantly, you want to personally own paid acquisition and performance intelligence for a single brand rather than being one person among many touching an account. You'll have direct access to our creative team, e-commerce team and company leadership and the ability to meaningfully influence how JNCO grows. About
