Global Product Strategy Manager

Job Description

The Global Product Strategy Manager is responsible for defining OTR's long-term global product strategy for wheels, tires, and track systems. This management level role owns the product portfolio, technology roadmaps, market intelligence, customer insights, and innovation pipeline. Working closely with Sales, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and OEM customers, the Manager identifies where OTR should invest its engineering resources to deliver profitable growth and sustainable competitive advantage via the technology and product roadmap.
Essential Functions:

  • Owns the global product portfolio and recommends where OTR should compete, invest, expand, or exit.
  • Develops and maintains 3-, 5-, and 10-year product and technology roadmaps.
  • Leads Voice of Customer activities through direct engagement with OEMs, distributors, dealers, end users, and internal stakeholders.
  • Partners with Sales to identify unmet customer needs and converts them into strategic product opportunities.
  • Leads global market research, market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM), trend analysis, and competitive intelligence.
  • Benchmarks competitors' products, technologies, pricing, manufacturing capabilities, patents, and market positioning.
  • Develops business cases including revenue potential, margin, ROI, NPV, payback, investment requirements, risks, and strategic fit.
  • Owns the product innovation funnel and prioritize opportunities using data-driven decision making.
  • Presents quarterly portfolio reviews, technology roadmaps, competitive updates, and investment recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Drives portfolio lifecycle decisions including product launches, enhancements, rationalization, and end-of-life planning.
  • Identifies emerging technologies, strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and university collaborations that strengthen OTR's competitive position.
  • Works cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and Sales to align strategy with execution.

Supervisory Responsibility:
1. Initially an individual contributor role with strategic leadership responsibilities. Leads through influence across global functions and may build and lead a future Product Strategy organization.
Work Environment:
This role operates in a professional office environment.
Physical Demands:
1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 2. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times (occasionally). 3. Utilizing engineering test and inspection equipment requires some dexterity and flexibility.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. To meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.
Travel:
Travel up to 25% of the time domestically and internationally as needed and required.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, or a related field required. A technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline is strongly preferred. 2. Seven or more years of progressive experience in product strategy, product management, portfolio management, market intelligence, business development, or a related function.
Preferred Education and Experience:
1. Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering Management, Product Management, or a related field preferred. 2. Demonstrated experience developing product roadmaps, market assessments, competitive analyses, business cases, and investment recommendations. 3. Experience managing a portfolio of technical, industrial, or engineered products throughout the product lifecycle. 4. Experience working directly with OEM customers, distributors, dealers, or end users to identify unmet needs and translate customer insights into product opportunities. 5. Experience with market sizing, pricing analysis, financial modeling, profitability analysis, and capital investment evaluation. 6. Experience presenting strategic recommendations and portfolio reviews to executive leadership. 7. Experience in off-highway equipment, wheels, tires, rubber tracks, automotive, agriculture, construction, material handling, powersports, or other industrial manufacturing markets strongly preferred. 8. Global business experience, including exposure to international customers, suppliers, engineering teams, or manufacturing operations, preferred. 9. Experience evaluating emerging technologies, intellectual property, strategic partnerships, acquisitions, or university collaborations preferred.
