$30/hour About the Role Visit Dana Point is seeking a talented freelance SEO Blog Writer who lives in Dana Point and is passionate about storytelling, destination marketing, and supporting local businesses. This role is responsible for creating engaging, search-optimized content that inspires travel while improving the performance of VisitDanaPoint.com. Because you'll be writing about local experiences, applicants must be current Dana Point residents with firsthand knowledge of the community. Monthly Responsibilities Write 2 original SEO-optimized blog articles (800-1,200 words each) Refresh 4 existing website pages or blog posts to improve SEO and user experience Conduct keyword research and optimize content for search intent Use Google Search Console to identify content opportunities and monitor search performance Use Google Analytics to evaluate content performance and user engagement Write compelling meta titles and meta descriptions Recommend internal linking opportunities Research local businesses, hotels, restaurants, attractions, and events Follow Visit Dana Point's content briefs and editorial guidelines Meet deadlines while maintaining high editorial standards Qualifications Required Must currently reside in Dana Point, California Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills Experience writing blogs or digital content Strong understanding of SEO best practices Experience using Google Search Console Experience using Google Analytics Strong research and organizational skills Ability to work independently and manage deadlines Preferred Experience in tourism, hospitality, lifestyle, or destination marketing Familiarity with WordPress or another CMS Knowledge of Dana Point's hotels, restaurants, beaches, events, and local businesses Photography or social media experience is a plus What Success Looks Like Each month, you'll deliver: 2 original SEO blog articles 4 optimized content refreshes Keyword recommendations Meta titles and meta descriptions Internal link recommendations Content ideas based on search trends and analytics Compensation $30 per hour Approximately 20 hours per month Flexible schedule with remote work Occasional visits to local businesses and attractions may be requested for research and content development How to Apply Please email the following to jobs@visitdanapoint.com : Resume Two to three writing samples or a portfolio A short video (1-2 minutes) answering: Why do you enjoy writing?
