This role is a real blend, and we mean it. About half is front desk and admin — greeting clients, managing the phone and booking calendar, keeping the salon running. The other half is content and creative: you will help plan, shoot, and edit the reels, flyers, and social posts that bring clients through our door. You will not be handed random Canva tasks. You will work directly with our Director of Communications on real campaigns, with a defined brand system, written creative standards, and actual performance data to learn from. Your Friday shift is set aside specifically for content work. You will see what you make go live, and you will find out whether it worked. If you want to build a portfolio in beauty and social media marketing while working in a calm, established salon, this is a genuinely good place to do it. We are looking for someone reliable and organized who also has real interest in creative work — not just willingness, but interest.

Pay:

$18-$20/hour, based on experience and demonstrated creative ability

Schedule:

Part-time, approximately 26 hours per week, with set weekly shifts:

Monday:

3:00-8:00 pm

Wednesday:

3:00-8:00 pm

Thursday:

3:00-8:00 pm

Friday:

10:00 am-3:00 pm (content and creative day)

Sunday:

11:00 am-5:00 pm Tuesdays and Saturdays off Occasional Saturday coverage may be needed for team time off. Our schedule is set each season and shifts can move between morning and evening blocks, so availability for both daytime and evening hours is required.

Growth:

Pay can move past $20/hour, and additional hours may become available, based on performance, reliability, and how much of the content work you take ownership of. Front desk and admin Greet clients and set the tone for a calm, professional front desk Answer calls, texts, and messages clearly and promptly, and return voicemails daily Book, confirm, and reschedule appointments, and keep the day's flow on track Handle checkout, payments, and client questions about services and policies Keep consent forms, client files, and front desk materials organized and correctly filed Support management with daily admin tasks, ordering, and salon logistics Follow written procedures accurately and flag problems early rather than letting them sit Content and creative Shoot photo and video of services, results, and the salon during the workday Edit reels and short-form video in Canva Design flyers, promotional graphics, and in-salon signage to our brand standards Help plan campaigns — concepts, shot lists, and captions — and take them from idea to posted Keep the photo and video library organized and usable Review how posts performed and bring ideas for what to do differently next time What we require Demonstrated creative ability — you must submit work samples to be considered (see below) Genuine interest in social media, content creation, design, or photography and video Strong communication and customer service skills Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented — you show up on time and finish what you start Comfortable multitasking in a busy salon environment Able to follow detailed written instructions and respond to email promptly Available Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, Friday daytime, and Sundays Able to work as part of a small team and speak up when something needs attention 18 years or older, with reliable transportation to Bowie, MD Able to stand, move around the salon, and lift up to 20 lbs during a shift, with or without reasonable accommodation Preferred Canva experience, especially video editing Experience running or contributing to a social media account, personal or professional Receptionist, front desk, admin, customer service, retail, or hospitality experience Salon, spa, or beauty industry experience Comfort being on camera, or directing someone who is No salon experience is necessary.
