Social Media Coordinator - In Person Only (not remote)

Job Description

Essential Functions:
  • Develop, implement, and administer a social media strategy to align with business goals
  • Establish content calendar, create, edit and publish exciting and engaging content across MCPC's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. Ensure consistency of messaging across multiple platforms.
  • Coordinate with staff to create informational and/or educational posts. Share posts from other staff managed pages.
  • Administer accurate content for publishing (images, videos and copy). Coordinate scheduling of photographer/videographer for program and event coverage.
  • Monitor and respond to messages and comments and maintain relationships with consumers. Mediate negative reviews and share positive testimonials to strengthen customer relations.
  • AI trends and application o Implement AI and automation for marketing workflows as appropriate o Maintain an understanding of ever-changing AI systems for responsible implementation for effectiveness and efficiency o Maintain critical oversight of AI creations to ensure transparent, correct, and human centered information.
  • Keep up with industry trends, tools and best practices in order to translate them into social media strategies.
  • Analyze and evaluate metrics and translate data into recommendations for enhancing social media strategy and creatively growing followers and increasing engagement. Maintain reporting of social media metrics and streamlining performance tracking and analysis for efficiencies.
  • Contact, assign, and coordinate influencer requests as needed, in line with budget availability.
  • Maintain active and current knowledge of Park Commission programs and facilities In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, create, edit and publish exciting and engaging content for Park Commission events, website, press releases, blogs, brochures.
In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, make regular updates to website with current information on calendar, special events, media, park pages, general information, etc. Periodically analyze marketing tools for effectiveness and efficiency, making recommendations and implementing adjustments as needed Create multichannel ideation and implementation of marketing campaigns Control internal workflow, prioritizing and coordinating requests while meeting and managing project goals. Implement elements of the marketing plan, including media outreach, community connections, workflow processes, etc.
Email Marketing:
o Develop and execute email newsletters & email marketing campaigns that resonate with targeted audiences. o Coordinate with divisional staff to create weekly calendar newsletter o Implement A/B testing to refine email designs, subject lines, and content for maximum engagement. o Ensure compliance with email marketing regulations and best practices. o Maintain and update subscriber lists, ensuring data integrity and segmentation. o Monitor campaign performance metrics and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
    PR & Outreach:
    Including pitching, securing and tracking coverage of MCPC events and programs on local calendars, and managing outreach events.
    • Ensure that all assets adhere to Park Commission branding.
    Other Functions:
    • Works overtime when necessary to meet the needs of the Park Commission
    • Assist with development of department budget
    • Interact with vendors to ensure maximum service benefit to the Park Commission. Prepare strategic evaluations of vendors for MCPC services.
    • Maintain appropriate records for vendor payments
    • Attend community events to promote Park Commission programs and facilities.
    • Present a positive image, as a Park Commission representative, to the public.
    Working Conditions :
    Primarily required to work in an office environment with periodic outdoor assignments. Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions. Occasionally must lift up to 20-pound objects, materials and equipment. Required to interact with customers and vendors of varying dispositions. Spends considerable time sitting at a desk for computer and telephone work, and certain activities may require standing, walking, or stooping.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in marketing, communications, media, journalism, advertising or related field with concentration or certification in social media preferred.
    • At least three years of experience in social media communications, marketing, social media or related field
    • Strong writing skills with experience in copywriting and editing for various media outlets
    • Ability to develop creative and innovative social media messages with a high level of accuracy.
    • A keen eye for detail and maintaining standards
    • Knowledge and understanding of various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) and how each platform can be used for different objectives
    • Experience with social media management and content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Airtable, Hootsuite, Facebook Business Suite, and video editing software, preferred
    • Ability to monitor and understand AEO and SEO and user engagement via available analytic tools.
    • Ability to multi-task to meet strict deadlines and execute multiple responsibilities simultaneously; efficient organizing skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, employees, vendors and the public
    • Ability to collaborate with co-workers for optimal social media presence.
    • Flexible work schedule to accommodate periodic weekend/evening assignments
    • Ability to represent the Morris County Park Commission in a professional manner to the public at community and corporate events
    • Valid NJ Driver's License
